I'm looking for advise as to which 22 LR rifle I should buy. I'm looking for tight groups at 50 yards. Looking at Cooper, Anschutz and Kimber. Will consider target or heavey barrel rifle. Also if anyone has something for sale please let me know. Thanks Steve
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT!!

Not related to your .22 but you shouldn't put your email address there like that. Just add it to your profile and we can click on that to email you or pm you. Posting your email address in a thread is a good way to get bombarded with spam mail. Good luck on your rifle search!

anshutz, i have a 64mpr that shoots very well with good ammo. wolf, or sk shoots the best.

For .22 rimfire accuracy the top three choices are: Anschutz, Anschutz and Anschutz.

What are you planning on doing with it? Hunting or target shooting(Formal match shooting or target shooting because it's fun)? How much money do you want to spend(ball park)? You want a single shot or mag fed?
"...Will consider target or heavy barrel rifle..." Target rifles always have heavy barrels. You still have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo it shoots best. The price of said ammo means nothing.
"...if anyone has something for sale..." Definitely don't discount a used rifle. Takes a great deal of abuse to damage a good .22. Target or otherwise.

wanted anschutz 22lr rifle

Mostly Target and Silouette shooting. My preferance would be and anschutz.

If you are shooting from the standing, cz 452 is unbeatable for the money. You as a shooter will NEVER be able to out shoot it.

Anschutz, Bleiker, Mannel, walther, theyre all good. when you get to that price range its just what feels good. the 2013 is the newest anschutz. and the industry standard. but i like the looks of the Mannel. it looks very promising. as does the bleiker.

Check out the toggle bolt system by Izhmash, Russian. Have a hammer forged barrel, deep crown, steel weaver mount system, comes with 5 and 10 rd mags, 1 piece cleaning rod, cleaning kit/tool kit. At fifty yards I put 4 shots in 1 hole at 50 yards with Fed UM1 ammo, 5th rd went out a bit. BTW it sells for less than 500.00. Trigger out of the box is unbelievable. We've sold over 125 of these guns in past 3-4 years. Some guys have bought 2, they're that good. Iown 2 Anschutzs, 2 Winchesters, 2 Izhmash, 1 in 22 mag.
In our local club, it was the first gun to ever shoot 15 eggs with 15 shots @ 100 yards.
I did it with Wolf match target. This last year, there was a 4 way tie, 2 Anschutzs, 1 Cooper, 1 old Win 52 heavy barrel. All guns shot perfect scores and faced a shoot off.
Overall, Win finished on top, this time. Hope to change that June 19th, 2010.

The Kimber at CMP is supposed to be awesome.

I had a ruger 10/22 that I customized with a barrel and trigger that was as accurate as anything. I'm sorry I sold it, but then again I wouldn't have my man with no name.

Check out the posts over at rimfirecentral.com. It's a great resource for all things rimfire.

Look for a used Anschutz unless you're 100% sure you'll really get into .22 target shooting. Note that target and silouette I believe have different rules about their guns. I'm not sure what they are, but have a look before investing in a gun.

If you're looking at target shooting, another +1 for Anschutz.

Thanks guys for all your help and advise. I found a 64 Annie and love it, especially the 4 oz trigger and the groups. Awesome!!!

Believe me the 4 oz trigger on your Anschutz is NOT too light!

I'm prejudiced anyway where target rifles are concerned! Love my "antique" Anschutz 1407 and I'm still trying to live up to it's accuracy. They are a real joy to shoot. I'm taking mine out this weekend to introduce some newer shooters to a real target rifle!

I agree with what someone said about the CZ452/453 being really hard to beat for the money. Also I have had some really good shooting Heavy Barreled 10/22s but they will never have a trigger like a bolt gun.

Anschutz also are usually pretty good, but depending on rules if you get into any formal matches you could probably buy a CZ and have a shilen, lilja, kreiger, etc. barrel put on it for the price of a new anschutz and if it is done right will out shoot almost anything out of the box.

I have a Remington 504 with a heavy lilja barrel on it that I might be talked out of ;) With the right ammo my 504 will shoot 1/4" @ 50 yards all day and I'm still trying out different ammo. I know with one lot I had a 5 shot group measure .400" outside to outside.
