Target to be selling ammo?

4th of July here Wal-Mart has TONS of expensive fireworks outside the store. I guess every store is different in every state.

SC is a lot more lax on fireworks than many other areas.

So, tell me, OP, if Target did get back into ammo, what ammo is there to be had?

i drive to pedros every year to get fireworks in sc we have the big tent here too but its all stuff that sparkles on the ground

I know the Target store on Flying Cloud in Eden Prairie, MN is not posted, I've carried in there many times, including quite recently.

I don't see Target carrying ammo anytime ever. That's just not their "thing". They would probably carry hunting & fishing licenses first, and they don't do that.

Around here in Ohio, Meijer and Wal*Mart both carry hunt/fish licenses, and ammo. Meijer is just insanely overpriced on their ammo, much like Gander Mountain.

A Target store in Houston used to carry quite a few guns. A man I used to hunt with and who took corporate clients hunting all the time was in there one day just looking around and the guy behind the counter knew him. He said, "We have been told to get rid of all the guns by this weekend interested." My friend originally said no, then the guy told him, "seriously, fire sale prices, make me an offer." Long story short he ended up with 2 marlin model 60 22's for $20 each, and remington 700 .270 for $100. and 3 remington shotguns for $50 each. NOT BAD

I'll make it very simple, if they think they can make money selling it... they will.

With the current market place for ammo, I really doubt a big company could make money selling ammo if they just started.

Target has improved their sporting goods/camping section in the past several years. They have offered some more expensive or innovative flashlight brands such as Inova, River Rock and things such as that nature.

Actually the Target in Boise has an okay selection of fishing gear, mostly catering to the younger crowd (Batman, Scooby Doo, and Barbie fishing poles).

They're coming around and you have to give them credit for that.

Walmart and Target type stores are not exactly the kind of places I want to go for ammuntion. I tend to go to gunshops and the internet first.
Now that I have dies for everything, I no longer purchase practice ammunition, but for handgun hunting and 9x19mm self-defense ammunition, Walmart is the FIRST place I go.

On my once a year [unsuccessful] hunts, I carry Winchester White Box 240gr. LSP .44 Magnums in my S&W Model 29.

My chosen 9mm self-defense load is the Winchester White Box 147gr. JHP. Walmart almost always has it and at a very reasonable price.

There's a Target across the street from where I used to work. They're just around the corner from the house. As far as them being "anti-gun", they're not posted and I carry concealed there every time I go.

I doubt it will happen, lots of expense in setting up locked cabinents for display, an associate to man the section (I guess they could have a call button), and were exactly would they purchase the ammo from, I understand manufactors/distributors are not taking on new customers. By the time demand falls for them to allow to carry the stuff there is not a point, it will be cheaper at walmart.

My local FFL buys ammo at WalMart and resells it in his shop. Obviously, I only buy firearms from him. Ammo comes from the Internet.

I think this sucks. So, he buys it from the community and sells it back at a marked up rate?

It is guys like this that are forcing walmart and other stores to limit purchases.

I've never seen anyone beat a kid at Wal-Mart, and I go to Wal-Mart wherever I visit, if I'm killing time (not to buy anything, it's just a quirk -- I think it's amusing how you can feel like you're in the same place, in almost any town in America, when you walk into Wal-Mart).

I have, however, seen kids at Target (and other stores) that should have been beaten, and that everyone around WISHED were beaten (not excessively, just enough).

Spare the rod...:D

True.
We don't have an ammo shortage here in my part of Florida all calibers are available. There is only one problem, it is way over priced. 40 cal $39.95 for 50 rounds, 9MM $29.95, $19.95 for 20 rounds of .223. We have allowed the suppliers to rape the buyers and guess what, they will continue to do so for many years to come, and with Obama's blessing. It has also gotten to the point where it is too costly to load your own. I am lucky, I stockpiled enough target and SD/HD ammo long before Obama and his stupidity and have enough ammo to continue my present shooting schedule for about four years. I doubt that I'll ever need to use any of my stored SD/HD ammo for target practice in my lifetime.

Why do we have a guns and ammo shortage?

Guns bought Jan 2009 to May 2009===== 3,785,514 .
I didn't say we had a shortage, I thought I was the only person who knew it wasn't a shortage, I was always able to find ammo. The reason I said true is because right now at SOME places people are buying the ammo as soon as the store gets it, so the manufacutrer may not be able to tend to a whole other chain of stores RIGHT NOW.

Wal*Mart has very good prices on ammo. I doubt that Target would place any pressure on Wal*Mart to lower prices at all.

But I still all for them selling it, if they think they have a market.

I doubt this will happen. The Target demographic tends to be young moms. They're not exactly the "ammo" type. However, they are much easier on the eyes than Wal-Mart's "400 lb. middle aged woman on the motorized cart" demographic. =)

I recently saw a very large woman at Wally World buying beer, diapers, snuff, Little Debbie's snack cakes and shotgun shells. Only in America, only at Wally World.:neener:

I went into the newer Target on Ina Road about 5 years ago, looking to see if they had any CO2 cartridges for my little air pistol - the clerk freaked, and LOUDLY proclaimed that they would never carry any guns, ammunition, or anything else gun related. I never went back to buy a thing. Wal Mart was closer.

I had a similar experience a few years ago when I was going camping and thought it would be fun to do a little shooting with my Crossman pellet gun. I remembered buying the actual gun, pellets, BBs and CO2 at Target previously. I went back to the sporting goods/camping section and no dice.

I then went to the local ACE hardware store, since I remembered buying milk cartons of Copperheads when I was a kid. No luck there, either.

I really, really hate going to Wal-Mart, but it is a great place for fishing tackle and ammo...and sure enough, they had CO2. Kicked them up another notch in my book.
