Taste in wheel guns

Wow, when you shift gears and change direction with your wheelguns, you really do it big time! Recently saw an online drawing to win a Chiappa Rhino. Not to say I wouldn't take it if I won it but I don't think I would use my hard-earned cash to buy one.

Thanks- of course I am not entirely focussed on the past... I love this thing too!...

That's a whole side of you I didn't know about! It's like I don't even know you anymore haha

I am really fond of S&W stainless, 5" barrel, full underlug. When I first handled a used 625 (.45 ACP) I was hooked. Bought it and truly fell in love. Now I own several models in several calibers, all fitting the general description.

My 629 is a 5" and handles wonderfully. I prefer 4" barrels because they're so handy but 6" is too nose heavy and cumbersome for me for sure. 5" is a nice middle ground.

In DA revolvers I'm very partial to N-frames, and older ones at that. By older I mean pre-IL and pinned & recessed (for Magnums) is best.

In single actions the SAA Colt is far and away the most beautiful version of a SA handgun ever produced. I use to prefer 1st Generation SAAs and shot strictly black powder in them. Can't afford Colt SAAs of any generation any more.

... but this is the kind of wheel gun that moves me, what trips your trigger and sends your hand digging for your wallet?
For conceal carry I prefer short-barrel .44 in stainless (I have 2 2½" bulldogs and one 3" 629 [none of which are true snubnose revolvers, btw]).

For out & about on the farm (I spend very little time shooting at targets except when testing loads) I prefer a vintage DA Colt or S&W in .32-20 or .38 with 5"-6" barrel.

A nice blue&wood large-bore SAA appeals to me for walkabout, but I have never sought one or had one unexpectedly become available. :)

Colt SAA (a 3rd gen .44 Special is in the pipeline!) and Ruger SA clones, S&W J, J-Magnum, L and N guns are what I seem to have acquired for my armory. They keep company with a few examples of the only semiauto I like which is the 1911-pattern pistol.

My taste in revolvers is American made, blued on wood. I can't stand an optic on a revolver or rubber on a revolver. Just my "taste". Driftwood Johnson, you have some very beautiful pieces there.

The wheel-guns I have both are Identical full lug blue GP-100. I hunt with one.
The other is a safe queen.

My carry weapons are semi autos.

What trips my trigger? Apparently anything blued, wood and double-action in .22LR, preferably in a full-size frame. Right now it's these two:

No-Dash S&W Model 17

And a Model 18-4

And for some reason I've recently decided what I REALLY need to add to my collection is a Colt Officer's Model Match, post-war with the windage and elevation adjustments on the rear sight. I had a pre-war Officer's Model Target in .22LR in my hands a couple of months ago but I'm not sure I could've gelled with the sights.

I have very specific likes in a revolver, a comfortable hand filling grip, 3" barrel, prefer non-fluted cylinder, prefer brushed stainless, really like the GP100/K/L-frame size.

very drawn to this S&W

this GP 100 .44 spc is on my want list

I'm not a J-frame fan but if given a chance I would add this one to the safe

Finally one of my grail guns if I ever win the lotto and find someone willing to part with one, a Lew Horton 624 N-Frame

eccentric taste? maybe, but this is the kind of wheel gun that moves me, what trips your trigger and sends your hand digging for your wallet?
I'm with ya on the non fluted cylinder. I will own the new ruger gp100 in 44 special someday.

I want to get the wallet out for:

Dan Wesson 15-2's and /or 715's . I love them.
Dan Wesson 44 and 744.
S&W N Framed guns in 4", no locks, I want them pinned and recessed.
S&W L frames, pre lock. Blued or stainless, I like them.

I'm a big fan of 3" L frames in 357 or 38 special. 3" and 5" N frames in 357 or 44 mag really kind of make me a little sweaty too.

Not sure why.
