I guess I'm old fashoned, but I prefer traditional double-action semi-auto handguns. I like having a long, heavy first trigger pull (for safety), but with the option of thumb cocking to get a lighter single-action pull if time permits. I have a striker-fired SW99 that accomplishes the same thing by retracting the slide about 1/4". So, I'm intrigued by the Taurus 24/7 Pro that is marketed as a "DA/SA" pistol. But all the marketing focus seems to be on having a true double-action second strike capability in the case of a misfire. That's okay I suppose, but not a tremendously important feature to me.
Are these 24/7 Pros basically Glocks or Springfield XDs with a second strike capability, or can I actually uncock it for carry? If so, can I recock it without having to cycle the action and eject a round (or fire the first shot double-action)?
Does anyone but me wish companies like Kahr and Kel-Tec would produce traditional DA/SA pistols? I'm frustrated that even the Walther P99 and SW99 pistols now seem to be sold almost exclusively with the Glock-like trigger rather than the traditional DA/SA lockwork.

PS - I'd rather not get into the discussion of whether it is safe to carry a "mostly-cocked" gun (like a Glock or XD) around with no manual safety. I prefer not to do so. I understand that many knowledgeable shooters are fine with it. That's okay with me. I know "the safety is between your ears" and all that. I also know that human beings make mistakes, and I prefer a little extra margin of safety if I'm pulling a handgun from a fanny pack and accidentally brush or catch the trigger. That's why traditional DA is my preference. It isn't an excuse for sloppy gun handling - just a little extra margin for error.
