First time poster here ... lots of great stuff for a new guy to absorb in the firearms world. So here is the problem with the Taurus .. no pattern at all to the FTF on this thing. 2 mags and WWB and Rem FMJ's about 400 down range and about 2 dozen FTF's ... unchambered about a dozen rounds after the first click (FTF) and no strike on the primer. This is all in SA mode I should add. A second "full" pull (DA) always fired. I've cleaned all the factory gunk and debris from the firing pin assembly (dis-assembled) and lots of crap came out .. used CRC polymer safe cleaner. Drop of oil in striker bore and sparingly oiled slide and sear ... worked it and felt and sounded much better. NO cracked pin cap or broken springs ... my last 100 rounds and at least a dozen FTF with only 1 mag of flawless rounds (17) ... I'm seeing a lot of ..."these guns are hit or miss" ... Also Taurus's CS seems very lacking. Really don't want to send it off to them if I can help it. Just want to see if there is a guru out there with a fix to this FTF problem. I like it and it's very accurate when I take my time. HELP guys !! :banghead:

Drop of oil in striker bore

This may be part of the issue, I would scrub out the channel (Q-tip) and wipe off the pin and try to keep all oil out of this area. oil can grab powder, dirt, dust, lint, etc and lead to a build up where you dont want it.

Thanks BP. Will try it dry ... do you own one of these or had similar problems ??

Nope I dont own one, Had a few poor experiences with the company. I have seen similar problems arise when a gun is over oiled or oiled in the wrong places Eg-striker channel. Give it a try

other than your FTFire problems how do you like your 24/7? how doue it do for accuracy?

Have a 24/7 Pro 45. In the beginning I was getting a few light strikes. Sometimes they would fire the second time.
I then started to apply gunscrubber in the firing pin channel and the problem went away. I do not put oil in the firing pin channel.
Today every time I clean it it gets a good squirt. No problems since.
Also have a PT111 Mill Pro, do the same thing and it has been flawless.

Great video clip ! Have to Netflix that one ! Was a little bent yesterday after range time so I just now am looking at the field strip ... a lot of crap all over this thing (105 rounds .. 50 WWBs .. 50 Rem UMCs and 5 Rem JHPs ... so any hits on teflon based or graphite stuff or just keep it dry/clean ??

BP .. I like it (good fit in my southpaw hands and light) and accurate when I slow down .. it's hard to like otherwise to the fact that my 1 in 6 shots FTF ... that the BG would still think pretty bad odds for him ...

I wouldnt switch up oil or anything just put a drop on the slide rails and a light film on the trigger mech. some guns like to run dry while others like to run very wet;).

Dear 4givin, Do you believe in Jesus? Because when that convict in your home hears that click...your gonna meet Him!!! Get a hole shooter that goes bang instead.

Hey wiseguy !! glad to see ya joined up man ! Just gimme another sniff of that XD tomorrow at the range and I might go home with one !! uhh .... that actually goes bang :what:

That pig don't care if its sparkly or under mud. She's never clicked once. Cept maybe when I ferget to load her. If you get a XD, I call ya with a Judge.:neener: (NEW JUDGE, STIFFER SENTENCE.:what:) Only Taurus I'll buy.

they also have a Rock Island Armory 1911 there ... DAT one feels pretty good and fits my long alien-like fingerz !! I guess they work from all I've seen and heard ... nice hefty unit. Not sure I like the parkerize on it tho. Can't remember wich model but will see tomorrow. Sam the Glock man says I shud think about Glockin   Shud bring yer wheels tomorrow man !! :D

You can go to www.taurusarmed.net and ask about your problems and use it as a source for your gun.

Most of the problems come from either not cleaning and lubing the gun prior to range use the first time or from possible software problems or new to shooting the gun syndrome.

There are many things that the shooter may be doing unintentionally wrong and not know it.

The reason I say that is Taurus 24/7s are similar to DAO triggered pistols and a lot of shooters have little experience with this kind of gun.

Ammo preference is another bugaboo to look at. First of all the gun needs a break in period of at least 200-500 rounds. Depends on the model of gun.

It could be just of case of ammo selection. Pistols can be finicky about the ammo they will shoot. Try a few boxes of other brands and bullet weights.

This link covers compact pistols, but the same things can be said about full size or medium sized guns as well.

Gun magazines also need a break in period of sorts. For example, I have a PT132 that had a few problems with the action staying open for the first two or three uses on a empty magazine. After that there have been no mishaps in the last twenty- thirty uses after that.

All firearms are like cars. They need break in periods to get parts to a point where they work and mesh well. Each individual gun is a case by case basis and an entity unto itself.

Next is the user getting the proper grip, stance, and finger pressure as well as a good follow through on the trigger. Any glitches in those can cause any pistol to malfunction or shoot off point if not done correctly.

When I first started shooting my PT111 and PT111 Mil/pro I was a novice to DAO or SA/DA triggers. I had a mentor watch and give positive critical feedback and criticism. This helped me become a better shooter sooner and get rid of bad habits that could or were creeping up into my shooting. Prior to this I had shot only revolvers or Ruger conventional DA/SA pistols.

So there are some causes and effects to look at.

Taurus guns, as well as other brands that come right out of the box generally and may need preservant grease to be cleaned out of all the nooks and crannies. That includes the firing pin channel as well. Then a good lubing on the rails and other metal contact points is called for.

Sometimes it's the overlooked things that can get in the way.

my 1st 150 or so rounds went with only 1 jam and 2 FTF ... NO primer strike ... I did spend a couple hours with an old timer instructor who does it for a living and all seemed well with him/me. This all started near the 200-250 round mark and only thing I have not done was flush out the frame. I have posted all this in the TA forums but can't seem to get a fix yet. been all thru the firing pin/striker assy. and same result. One guy told me try the pin/striker DRY. this all happens in SA but after FTF it always fires DA. Actually 1 or 2 times FTF in DA then fired from SA after. Have gotten a lot of info .. hit or miss guns but not condemning Taurus just want one that bangs every time. .. :banghead: Gonna print your post and DO some things before I send this one out to Miami.

The problem is CLICK >>> NO STRIKE ..... thanks gunner .. :)

That is all fine information! Stance, trigger pull, finger pressure, ammo, and how much sleep I have in my eyes when I'm staring at some one whom I have not invited into my home, won't mean squat. I won't be going through the mechanics at that point and my hand might be shaking a bit when I yank that trigger to the guard. I want that lead spitter to make noise and I'll still be alive to worry about the critique later! My XD is very faithful and so are my wheels. Weapons that go "click" are only good for watching your friends flinch. Not in my arsonal.
I just blasted off 39 rounds while up north snowmobiling in 7 degree weather. I did hear some clickin though... it was my teeth chattering.

Shouldn't Taurus cover your FTF problem? It's a relatively new gun right, so why don't you just send it back to Taurus to be repaired or replaced? Maybe I missed something earlier in this thread but that's the best solution I can think of...good luck!
