What is your guys's opinion on the Taurus 24/7 Pros in .40? I'm looking for any good, but cheap, lights and lasers for it. Thanks.

I think the 24/7 on paper is a great pistol. I asked my gun shop if they had any I could handle and the guy said they don't carry that model because 50% of them had to go back to the factory, probably for something minor and easy to fix though.

Wow, somehting must be wrong with my Taurus firearms, I have not had to send any of them back.

The sear broke on my son's during his first range trip. They did fix it and paid for shipping both ways, but it took about 6 weeks and that is the only gun any of us have ever had break on us.

Well made Firearm.

I have owned One 24/7 9mm Two 24/7 .40's and the same 24/7 .45 for over 4 years now. The .45 is the only one I still own for the last 4 years. I wish I had the .40's back. I have NEVER had a Problem with my .45-Period. Has been more reliable then the Springfield XD's I used to own. Taurus has Improved a lot over the years. I Give them credit for making Quality Firearms at a low Price. My .40's and 9mm were just as reliable. I sold two of them, and traded another.

The Best to you and Yours!

Frank

PS. I must add that My Springfield XD-M's [I own four of them] Have been TOTALLY Reliable. Maybe it was the change in Design and the Quality of Materials used. But the XD-M Platform is Awesome!!!

My friend had a 24/7 in 9mm, and it was ok, not great, it seemed touchy about ammo, unless it was FMJ, it didn't feed some rounds too well. He got a Taurus 809, and that thing is great! The 24/7 got sold off almost immediately.

I want him to buy another one, and if it's ok, to sell me the original one, as I know it works. My previous Taurus experiences have been very bad, so I'm kind of skittish about buying one.

I have a Taurus 24/7 Pro DS in 40. At this point I have over 1500 rounds through it without one problem. It feeds every different type of round I've put through it. It has been nothing but reliable since the day I bought it. It's my only Taurus so I can't speak to any other Taurus pistols. I believe I payed about 380.00 for it. It was without a doubt worth the money.

I paid about $420 for mine but I had it ordered and it is brand new. I went out with a friend and shot it and we put about 100 rounds through it and it jammed once but i think it was just because he doesn't know what he's doing. I won't ever go shooting with him again after some of the things that have happened the last few times we've gone. And I like the Springfield XDMs if it weren't for the fact that they have a grip safety. Also, I was curious if anyone would tell me how the mechanism works that changes the pistol from single to double action in case of a misfire. But so far I love the gun. Thanks.

24/7

I have 3 24/7 in 9mm and one in 45ACP. I have never had any of the 9mm even burp once on me. I wish i could say the same of the 45ACP. When I first got it it would jam (FTE) a last once per mag. I sent it back to Taurus and they either repaired or replaced the mags and it has only had 2 FTE since then. I believe both of these were caused by my limp wristing caused by trying to rapid fire. I love the way these fit my hand and the way they shoot.

I have a 24/7 in 9mm and bought it used from a friend. He only ran about 30 rnds through it and said he couldn't hit anything with it..LOL After my first range trip with it I brought a target back with the center shot out and showed him...LOL It is fast becoming my favorte gun to take to the range. I have put close to 500 rnds through it now with absolutely no failures at all.
And my EDC is a Taurus PT145 that I bought used from a pawn shop...over 600 rnds through it with no failures.

I had on in 45. I liked all the features but it had terrible muzzle flip and would cause my wrist to hurt after a mag or two. It was 100% reliable for the time I had it. I loved the fact that it could be carried decocked with a DA pull for the first shot.

I have one of the 24/7 Compact .45s, I'm mostly pleased with it. Trigger pull is long but smooth in DA and crisp enough in SA, it's eaten everything I've fed it since new (and I've deliberately fed it a varied diet, since it's my carry pistol whenever I'm on a road trip), and it's pretty comfortable to shoot. I find it shoots a bit low compared to my other pistols but for personal defense I think it's fine. A great buy for the money.

I managed to get 19 rounds of FMJ fired before mine jammed up so badly my gunsmith wouldn't touch it and it had to go back to the factory. I got it back a couple of months later :fire: and got rid of it. I wouldn't take another one for half price!!

Get a Ruger or a CZ; not too much money, reliability - - - and Ruger has good customer service. Maybe take a look at Rock Island in .45. Dead reliable, cheap; and customer service? If something is wrong they'll send you another gun.

Well, the distributor that the shop I got my gun through has a lifetime replacement policy. So, if I ever have a problem with this gun, I can take it back to the shop where I got it and the distributor will send me a brand new one.

I would suggest handling one. I recently handled the 24/7 and Millenium Pro. I really liked the Mil Pro. The 24/7 just felt awkward in my hand. Either gun should be fine though.

I had a Taurus .38spl that worked fine for probably 500 rounds before I sold it. The guy that had it before me had run about 100-150 rounds through it before me. So 600 - 650 rounds without a problem.

I don't remember the model number and at the time I didn't care. He traded it to me because he owed me for some work. I just wanted something to protect me and my new wife with.

Funny how times change. Now I would not only know the model number, I would read every review, try three or four types of ammo, and do at least a couple of milk jug balistics tests.

I like my .45. A lot.

It did fail to fire a few times. I did some reading and it was because I failed to clean the assembly lube out of the firing pin channel; it collects grime and copper bits. Been working great ever since.

Had a 24/7 Compact and I loved everything about that gun except that I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with it. Never had a failure, felt great in the hands, liked the trigger, but shots rarely came close to where I had it aimed. Now I'm not a pistol marksman by any means but I could aim down the middle at three yards and the round would barely make it onto the paper. I thought it was me for the longest time, so I practiced with it, adjusted the sights and finally had some others try it out and they had the exact same experience. So I got rid of it.

I'm not going to bash Taurus because every manufacturer can have issues, but I've been hesitant to buy another one - doesn't mean I never will, but we'll have to see.

The .40 S&W caliber is one of the hot sellers. There are links within the links that give that info.

I can bring 27 pages of links from just the .40 S&W caliber 24/7s alone.
At least 32pages for the 24/7s in .45ACP.

The pistol has been torture tested with 15,000 rounds by several gun writers and by Taurus. It passed both tests.
