Hey all. Trying to sell my girlfriend's Taurus 605. I went to clean it today, and discovered that the cylinder wouldn't stay closed. When the trigger is pulled, the hammer goes about 1/4 of the way back, and trigger travel stops at that point. Also, the cylinder release oddly enough stays forward, and if you pull it back, spring tension pushes it forward again. It's usually the opposite - it stays back unless pushed forward!

I know I could send it to Taurus, but if it's something simple (or something that's easy for my smith) I'd rather save the shipping. Any ideas? At this point I'd like to find the cheapest route to getting it right since it's headed for the classifieds.

Many thanks, all.

I have a 605 and it runs fine. Send it in for warranty repair. Or call CS and have them talk you through it, for disassembly, and assembly after they send the spring.
Lesson learned;
The reason I say this is I tried to kitcken table gunsmith a CHARTER ARMS with a similar problem. Istead of taking it apart in a see through bag I took the release apart and a sping went biong to places unknown. Ended up sending it in anyway.
Good luck

Good call, Doc - might as well try to get it fixed over the phone first.
