Last year I was looking at 856’s at a gunsmith shop near me. They sell new guns. I was waiting for one of the guys to retrieve a gun they were working on for me. I overheard a counter guy tell a perspective buyer “We have sold a bunch of these Taurus 856’s since they came out. We haven’t had one come back for any reason.”
I do not own an 856 and have no plans to buy one any time soon but I consider what the guy at the gunsmith shop said to be a very good endorsement of these revolvers.
The 856 with a 3" barrel is a great, accurate gun. The insides are so simple to get back in once taken out that I just cannot believe it. Had the gun apart in less than 2 minutes, took the green weenie to it and sprayed it down. Within 30 minutes; with drying time and all, I had it greased and back together shooting again. Now for those that havent spent any time in the Navy; a green weenie is what y'all call a scotchbrite pad??? I guess.

Can anyone let me knwo why my Taurus jams up when shooting? The other day it was fine and I cleaned it up and today it jams up every few shots. Seems like the trigger spring is too strong and without helping the cylinder advance it will not cycle. Just baffles me to no end. Can anyone help me out? Thank You. Don (Rip)

Did the problem only start after your disassembly? If so that’s where I’d start. Something may be askew.

Well, I had it apart many times to clean and everything went back just the way it was. Nothing seems askew but I will take it down to parade rest again gove it a good cleaning and oil and reassemble.
