Taurus 856 trigger spring update

It's worth a try.

Worst case is that you get light strikes and/or the trigger doesn't reset strongly enough for self defense use.

Now if this is one of those 3" barreled versions of the 856 that I'd almost consider a "kit gun" and if used only for target shooting and plinking, I'd definitely try out some spring combo of original and new.

Does anyone have any experience doing this?

Yep, just not with that model of gun.

I swapped out the springs in a 85 with the wolff variety and it made a noticeable difference. No light strikes either.
I'm using a modified wolff spring kit in my 692 and found that it made a significant difference.
The trigger reset is noticeably lighter though and a friend of mine who's used to shooting striker fire only would actually start his trigger pull on the first click almost every single time.
I just measured my double action and it looks like it peaks at about 8lbs.

i have a taurus 85 that is a never-sell, forever piece, perfectly great revolver in stock condition. i’ve used two galloway products in other handguns: captured guide rod springs for a ruger sr22 and a taurus spectrum. the sr22 galloway rod unscrewed its cap and jammed up the pistol, horrible until i figured it out. the spectrum galloway rod made field stripping insanely easy but caused numerous failures with ammo that ran fine pre-galloway. so, while ymmv, i wouldn’t waste my time installing anything galloway, even if gratis, in my taurus.

I have Galloway kit on this 856, very noticeable difference with no issues at all, pay very close attention to how parts come apart, I took pictures before disassembling, which helped alot on assembly...YES...I put it together wrong the first time:confused:
( I also did some polishing and smoothing on the guts)

I did the trigger mod, works great now!
Occasional light primer strike, but fires the next time though.
