Taurus 942 22 WMR

I have an older .22 LR 9-shot 94 4” and an 8-shot 941 in .22 WMR.

I like them, but they do suffer a bit from what the others have described; a fairly heavy DA trigger pull and occasional misfires with both guns.

The 94 is a brushed finish and has an all-stainless front sight that was impossible to see at the indoor range I go to so I had to paint it white-then-orange to make it visible.

The 941 is polished stainless with a red ramp front sight so it’s easier to see indoors. Both have adjustable blade rear sights that are functional but not outstanding.

My Lyman gauge showed the 94 had a 10 lb 12 oz DA trigger pull and a 2 lb 2oz SA pull. The 941 went 11lb 15 oz DA and 3 lb. 1oz SA. Not really awful, but not buttery smooth either.

I prefer the 94 barrel profile rather than the “lugged barrel” profile of the 941. They’re pretty well made and the accuracy is OK, so for an affordable “kit gun” option to an $800 dollar (and up) 4” S&W Model 34/63 or a rare S&W 51 .22 WMR , the 94 /941 and the newer versions aren’t a bad option.

Stay safe.

I have a 94. The trigger is literally 17-20lbs.

If you get light strikes you can take a few file swipes at the hammer nose to get better ignition.

I had to do that on my Redhawk .41, it had a mild case of “the occasional light stroke syndrome” in DA. Removing a little bit of the hammer nose above the transfer bar cut-out did eliminate the issue (so far so good).

Stay safe.

Anybody have a 94 in .22LR or WMR? I'm thinking about one in 22 WMR as I really like the round. Not many reviews on them, but my Taurus 692 has been a pleasure to shoot.
I love my Taurus .22 Mag. Excellent round in a small, very comfortable package. Removed the rubber grips and placed the Taurus walnut stocks. Kept at bedside for a secondary defense gun, it performs well, especially for the fairer sex. Good choice.
