I've got a new Taurus Tracker in 44 mag that I'm having problems with the cylinder locking up and the hammer locking back. I've read in certain spots where people who had the same problem took the thing apart and filed a bit off this piece and shaved a bit off that piece and fixed the problem. Has any other Taurus owners had this problem and could they tell me how to fix it myself? I'm avoiding sending it back for repair due to long turn-around times and repeat repairs after getting it back. I took the panel off the side just to look at it and it doesn't seem like it's all that complicated. Thanks...

I doubt anyone here can tell you, based on only your description, how to file this or shave that. To be honest, you don't sound like you have enough experience to do the work yourself. If you don't want to send it back to Taurus, I strongly recommend you take it to a competent gunsmith.

Suffice to say Taurus has issues with quality control. Send it back. Don't fuss with it yourself. They need to be buried in all the Friday guns they make on Monday thru Thursday. If you haven't had it too long....take it back to the gun shop you got it from. Try to return it as defective and let them deal with the faulty gun. Seek to buy something more reliable.
Cheers
Mac.
