Taurus Hidden Gems

I have a Taurus 85. Purchased it around 1990 to carry in a bad neighborhood. It went with me everywhere until I moved out of there. When I examine it the fit looks as good as a S&W 36. I'm not sure what kind of product they make today but the 90's stuff was a very good value for the price.

There's a steal in the lgs rack just up the street from me. Taurus 405 40sw revolver with moon clips, smooth and clean. Shows honest wear but it's a quality gun. I had a 405 a couple years ago that was a tack driver. This one is priced at $239. Anybody interested pm me and I will give you the shop name and number. I would jump all over it except for the fact that I don't particularly care for 40sw. If it were a 9mm there you would see pictures and a range report.

Taurus makes great guns at times. But at other times they put out total junk. I don't get why they do that. Is it a lack of testing or do they just not care? Whatever they should get their act together because lots of people miss out on some great pistols because it says Taurus on it.

I've not personally experienced it, but going by internet talk most people who've tried them seem to be saying that the quality has generally improved in the last few years.

Once upon a time I was pretty much against them but public opinion persuaded me to order a PT-111 a few days ago when they were on sale for $199. Hasn't come in yet but reviews are good and it looks nice on paper (except for the thumb safety which I'd prefer not be there, but for $199 I'll just ignore it).

One weapon stands "head and shoulders" above the rest. It is the PT-92 well proven in favelas of Rio de Janeiro and US inner cities.

My PT 111 Millennium G2 is in my carry rotation. It is every bit as reliable as my M&P 40C and just as accurate. It is my 2nd Taurus, the first being a PT111 Millennium Pro. I like the ergonomics much better in this one. I will and do bet my life on it.

Sorry, you are correct it is a PT111.Millennium G2. Old eyes, tired hand, brain in neutral.

I see the same thing in reviews of Taurus firearms. I saw a lot of it when I was thinking about buying my Taurus. I didn't get it the first day the LGS owner talked to me about it. I checked out a bunch of reviews on the net and I found out people were really happ with their PT-145 3rd Gen. so I jumped in with both feet. I didn't have to worry much because the LGS did give me 30 days to try the pistol out. He knew I wouldn't be bringing it back which says something right there.
