They most definitely are not Butler Creek boot grips. I know this insofar as I am a fan of Butler Creek boot grips and put them on all my Taurus small frame revolvers. As you probably know, Uncle Mike's/Butler Creek stopped making their grips last year. Some are still in the retail channel, so if you want a set, buy it now.
I have a three inch stainless 85 that came with very ugly rubber grips. My buddy has a Taurus 9 shot .22 that had wooden grips. He liked mine and I liked his, so we swapped. They give the 85 a "BIG" gun look and feel. But, I bought a pair of the Butler Creek Boot Grips so it would be easier to conceal. I do swap them out every now and then, but you can't beat the Butler Creek grips!
I don't know if Uncle Mike's made the grips, but I love the "ugly" rubber "boot grips" on my Taurus M85UL. They make firing +P in a really light revolver easy. They conceal well. That's ALL I care about on this revolver, concealment and function. I don't care what they look like, though I think they look pretty cool, actually. I NEVER let looks get in the way of function on a firearm. A gun is a tool first and foremost. If I want a piece of art, I'll start with a Colt 1873 canvas or something....
Honestly, I like the current Taurus rubber boot style grips better than the Uncle Mikes/Butler Creek boot grips. They cover the backstrap but do not cover the bottom of the frame. This aids in concealibility (marginally at best) and makes for a bit more of a handfilling grip. With my 650 and 85TI, this is somewhat important to me.
I tend to prefer the Uncle Mike's product on my Smith's though.
