Taurus Millenium Pro ???????????????

If they are for sale in CA or MA then they've passed "drop tests", not that these tests are necessarily realistic, but I doubt anyone would argue that its OK for any gun to discharge if dropped.

There are no Taurus firearms on MA's approved list at all. Taurus apparently refused to play their extortion game for tests and did not want to deal with MA's rampant lawsuit-friendly culture, and I applaud them for that.

And also
The New so called SA/DA Taurus striker is fully c ocked when you chamber a round or just rack the slide.

Once the slide on the new Taurus SA trigger has been racked, it is basiclly in the same condition as a c ocked 1911 except you can lower the hammer on a 1911 and un c ock it.

Agh. No, I'm glad I got the first model. I can deal with DAO if it means I can keep a round chambered. The 745 is so small that it can vanish into a smartcarry under loose cargo jeans, but the safety CAN be knocked off. DAO, you'd need a long trigger pull to fire it. Cocked SA? Not putting that in my pants, thanks.

Ha! Ha! I wouldn't put that in my pants either.

I really like the pistol, but I wish they would have used a trigger like the XD or Kahr.

Same problem...

I just bought a used Mil Pro 9mm about two months ago, and mine also shoots low, but at about 15 yards. Even so, I got all twelve shots within an 8 by 12 inch area on paper targets.

I will still keep it, I love this sucker!

Now I am in the market for a .45

Cheers,
George

Is it one of the newer ones that is DA/SA ? With the dovetailed sights? If it is, good luck finding replacement sights for it... The DAO Mil Pros had different sights... and if you buy the ones for the DAO model and try to install on the DA/SA model, well, you're SOL.

BTW, Here's a target I shot yesterday with my PT-111 Pro ... As you can see, sights are pretty much dead on for rapid fire.

7 yards, rapid fire, 2 mags center mass, 2 mags to the head.

maybe im missing something. i have the newer 745 w/ the single action trigger. it has a manual safety. is it unsafe to carry it cocked & locked? how is it different from my colt 1911 or hk uspc which i carry in the same manner?

Probably safe, it's just that that side safety can be bumped down if you have it in a nonfitted holster and are being highly active.

DAO requires a long trigger pull even if the safety's gone off. It's not cocked.

I don't see any problem carrying the SA/DA Taurus c ocked and locked, but be sure to not have your finger on the trigger when you flip the safety on.

Someone posted a while back that the safety will not engage if you move the trigger when engaging the safety.:uhoh:

I tested mine by pulling the trigger back just a hair and than flipped the safety on and than I tried pulling the trigger.

Sure enough, the safety was not engaged! :uhoh:

As long as I keep my finger off the trigger when I flip on the safety, it works fine.:)

What type of sights do the newer DA/SA PT's have; Heine or 3 dot? For CCW, which would you recommend DAO or DA/SA?

Newer ones are Heinie straight-8's... I personally prefer DA/SA, because of the second strike capabilities... If i am in a shootout, i like to be able to pull the trigger again to try and refire without having to rack the slide.

I don't have a Taurus DAO pistol, but I believe you have the second strike capability with either DAO or SA/DA with a Taurus pistol.

I like the trigger better on my SA/DA, but the DAO trigger is less complicated in that you don't have to remember to disenguage the safety.

Would the newer DA/SA pistols be safe for CCW? I've been told to always go with a DAO.

It's not a DA/SA trigger.

The new PT111 Pro is a single action trigger with an external safety.

Sights are fine on mine

Took it to the range today after uisng a heat gun to release the Loc-tite Taurus had edput on the rear sight set screw. Removed the rear sight, added a drop of loc-tite 620 (gap filling retaining formula, since the sight slides freeely in the dovetail with finger pressure without the set screw) to each dovetail surface, put it together and tightened the set screw, Then fired a few shots to check alignment and made a final adjustment and one last check.

Basically at 10 yards using a "bullseye hold" on a 1" orange dot as the bull, it was about 2.5" low -- meaing the front dot covers the POI. Typical for "combat sights".

I painted the rear dot of the Heine "Straight 8" sights black as I found it distracting. Painted the front dot "neon green" with some sight paint I'd bought a while back.

Basically I like the gun, especially the price. On the steel plates, the sight picture is a little higher that I'd prefer but it worked well. The bright green front dot and now totally black rear is a big improvement for my eyes over the stock configuration.

The Taurus Millennium Pro series are combat weapons, not bullseye target weapons.
True enough, but my PT-145 Mil-Pro shoots exactly to point of aim at 10 yards. THe factory did a good job on at least one of them.

I note that the PT-145 has replaceable front sight post. I assume that means they offer replacement posts of various heights? That would fix the problem, if you could get a shorter front sight post.
