I looked at a Taurus model 445 titanium today in a local shop. I had decided to give it a look, since I've never really looked one over. I haven't too many positive things about them. Upon inspection I noticed that there was nothing holding the cylinder in place at the front of the cylinder...nothing that holds the extractor rod in place like there is on S&W's. I was able to wiggle the cylinder to the point that it would touch the edge of the forcing cone. Is this normal for all Taurus guns?

Nothing to worry about. While the cylinder isn't locked at the end of the ejector rod (where it doen't do a whole lot of good) it is locked between the frame and the yoke (where it does). There may or may not be a problem with the particular revolver you looked at, but my yoke-locked Taurus' haven;t given me any problems. None of the current Ruger double-action revolvers lock at the end of the ejector rod either.

Although I see nothing wrong with crane locks My Taurus 94's are also subject to some questionable play within that system.

I have a three inch barrel (old style) that I may install on one of my 94's as soon as I can get the longer extractor rod and parts. This would give me a triple lock gun and maybe be more stable ?

I purchased a couple Taurus 94's within the last 6 months and they are sort of a work in progress. Smoothing, changing springs, etc. in order to get them to where I would like them to be. They both functioned OK from the start, but improvements can be made.
