Looking for a home / ccw 9mm, like the taurus pt 111 pro 3rd gen, but also like the sig sp2022 what do you guys think? they are both close in $

Taurus. I love my Gen 3 PT111, no taci-cool rail to dig into my waist, fits perfect in my hand, and it shoots where I point it, every time I pull the trigger.

The REAL story of the PT111 Mil Pro from the actual owners.

You can also go to www.taurusarmed.net and ask the real owners what they think as most of the owners are over there.

I do own a PT111 Mil Pro and have had nothing but sterling service from it over the last 10 years. It has been durable, reliable, and accurate to "combat accuracy".

There's nothing wrong with SIG product either.

The two pistols are different as night and day in operation and manual of arms.

The Taurus has the SA/DA light trigger pull that needs practice and dedication while the 2022.

Here's the specs on the 2022.
The SIG SAUER® SP2022® is the latest version of our popular polymer framed pistol and features a durable, lightweight and wear-resistant polymer frame with the added tactical versatility of an integrated accessory rail. The slide is machined from a solid block of stainless steel and protected by SIG’s black Nitron® finish. Available in 9mm, .357 SIG and .40 S&W, the SP2022 can easily be converted from a Double-Action/Single-Action to a Double-Action Only configuration through a unique integral fire control unit. It also features the SIG SAUER four-point safety system. The SIG SAUER polymer framed pistols has earned an enviable reputation and proven track record of reliable performance in the hands of law enforcement professionals. In December of 2004 the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command at the Rock Island Arsenal awarded SIG SAUER a contract for 5,000 SIG SAUER SP2022 pistols chambered in 9mm. The SP2022 – the only polymer framed pistol engineered to perform, built to protect and good enough to be called a SIG SAUER. Also available in DAO.

What I recommend is that you try each brand out if possible. Rent or try examine them at a gun dealer and then decide which meets your needs better.

Only actual owners of the pistols can comment on them. Hearsay and "witty repartee" that is not needs to be ignored as they have no bearing on the real world experience.

In the words of Clint Smith, CCW is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable. I own the Sig 2022, and carry it fine. It is an exceptional shooter, and I have a lot of confidence in it. Since it is all stainless & plastic, I have no concerns over sweat eating it. Since it is ugly & relatively cheap, I don't care if I beat the crap out of it.

However: I had to wait 4 months to get a High-Noon OWB pancake made for it. It was crazy expensive. If you are looking to carry right away, look for a G19. By the time you factor in custom holster costs for the 2022, they are close in price. You can find quality relatively cheap leather everywhere for the Glock.

After reading numerous threads on Taurus issues & service problems, as well as some first hand knowlege w/ Taurus-toting friends, there is no way I would CCW Taurus with so many better choices.

I can bring written 32 pages of links from the people who own PT111s and count on them for self defense.

These are people who take their guns very seriously.

Which ever gun you buy your wished the best.

Again I see some negative comments relating to Taurus and I want to remind all that ANY make can have problems.
Having said that I have a Taurus .40 Millenium Pro and it works like a charm and accurate. I have fired over 500 rounds through it already and works very well.
It's easily carried as well.
I had to jump in because of the consistent bad comments I have seen relating to Taurus on this site. All makes can have issues especially when first firing any make. There is no make out there which has not had issues.

Relating to service with Taurus, I have heard the opposite that they have an excellent service system in place.

I did not state they are poor weapons. I stated my belief that better choices exists. The OP is looking for feedback between two specific models. One of those models has been panned on this site and others for both service and reliability, and the Sig hasn't.

I have a 20+ year old PT99 that I trust. I have over 7,000 rounds through it, and cannot recall a single malfunction other than bad primers on surplus ammo. That said, it is never my primary CCW. Like the OP, I have other choices, and I would and do carry my Colt, Glock, Sig, CZ and S&W all before electing the Taurus. Call it an unfair bias, call it snobbery towards the better established brands, whatever. It is what it is. Taurus staked a claim as a budjet alternative to the brands they copy, and when you can have the orignal why settle?

Does anyone here actually own the the Sig2022? Seriously of all the 1st hand reviews to the PT-111 Pro on this page, followed by the Taurus bashing, followed by the "Buy the Sig it's a Sig, It's better" post. There isn't one 2022 Owner here?

Buy the Taurus and put the saved cash towards a good holster and range time. A practice and a good holster will make any gun 100% better.

(sorry if i did in fact miss a 2022 owners post)

Sig 2022 Owner

My Sig Pro is one of my best shooters, its well made and has never had any jams or any other issues with it. I cant speak on the Taurus but for the money the sig is the best buy. Like others have said, go out and find out for your self what you like, remember its your money. I like the Sig.
