Taurus PT-92/99 Magazine Release Latch

I am considering getting a Taurus PT-92 or 99.

The biggest factor in my decision is the magazine release latch. I have read the Taurus latch can be exchange with one made for the Beretta 92. This allow use of unaltered Beretta magazines.

So my question is can the magazine release latch be replaced with the Beretta? If so is it a simple parts swap?

The early magazines should work. Beretta changed the mag release after the Brazilian contract ran out. I have after market mags for my 99 that will work in both.
The Taurus 92/99 is an excellent gun. The early ones where made under license and on Beretta tools. That's how Taurus got it's start.
