anyone have an experience with these guns? specifically pt-911 and pt-945

i'm looking to get something since i turn 21 in 2 weeks and i'm now trying to decide between the 9mm and .45, leaning towards 9mm.

any known problems with these guns?

thanks

I have a pt99-9mm.I call it the poor man's Beretta.100% reliable.Had to have the pin that hold the rear sight on replaced because it would creep out.Other than that awesome.
I had a Taurus revolver in the past and am sorry I sold it.
I've had good experiences w/ Taurus and wouldn't hessitate getting another one.

I had a 945 which I enjoyed but sold it because I want to stick to 9mm. Never had any problems and the gun was a good size. My friend has a Taurus 92 that he had to send back to the factory -- after 20,000 rounds.
It has been a great gun. He carries it and has shot it in IPSC, IDPA and you name it.
They are excellent guns, don't be afraid to pick one up.

Dad has one that is kept at our main shop. My family owns a couple of dry cleaners. It's a PT-945. It sits in the unbeleivable heat and moisture emitted from the steam presses. It has since rusted on the exterior a little bit, and has hogue rubber slip on grips. It's ugly as all hell. One thing it also is, dead-??? reliable. The mags have been loaded with the same cor-bon +p hollow points for 8 years. Every time I take it to the range, I unload the mags, load them with winchester white box or blazer and shoot the piss out of it. Never once has it failed to do anything. Those mag springs are amazing. Saturday I decided it was time to shoot those Cor-bons because they have been sitting for at least 8 years. None of them had any problems. The gun chews up anything I put in it and spits it out, hungry for more. I am a Colt guy, but I really like anything with the Taurus logo on it. Real high quality stuff if you ask me. I don't see how much more reliable a gun can be...subjected to such harsh moisture and heat conditions daily, cleaned only after being fired at the range. The only thing I hate about it is the trigger. I hate DA triggers with a passion, and I don't like it's SA much either. I'm sure a gunsmith could do something with it, but it's not my gun and my father is just fine with it. Overall, good gun. I'm thinking perhaps of picking a used one up as a truck gun. Don't be afriad of buying one, my experience has been a good one.

Well, this is my first post on this board. I also own a Taurus 92 and I absolutely love it. Never fails to go bang and has a very nice fit & finish IMO. Great guns for the price. I've honestly never shot a Taurus that wasn't a good gun. Good Luck!

Well Ive had 2 of the 9** series guns and I miss both of them.
First was a 940...Ill just say this...I went on a shoot with my cousin, a Sig guy and his gun snob (seriously!) buddies. All were giving me crap about my little Taurus....
By the end of this shoot....I got nothing but rave reviews about my new little gun...my cousin traded me his Sig 229 for the Taurus for a couple of weeks.......which turned into 4 1/2 months.
He didnt want to give it back...and probably wouldnt have if I hadnt had his 229. That pretty much sums up the gun.
My second one was a PT 911....stellar gun. I customized the snot out of it but in a moment of total stupidity traded it off. The dealer whom ended up with the gun...had it marked for $600 at a gun show not to long ago.....my eyes went :what: when I saw the price. The guy at the table said it was a true full custom done by a very very good shop........I just said...."oh....ok, nice gun" and smiled as I walked off.
Get one...you will not be dissappointed.
BTW, this is worth mentioning...the 911/940/957 are the same dual stack gun...the 945 is a single stack version with a less blocky grip. Some have problems with the 945 biting them....
Most can fix this by changing their grip.......................
Shoot well and hope this helped.

Spank,

Just be sure you check the trigger pull before buying.

I have an older model Millennium PT111, and I don't have any scales in the house strong enough to measure the trigger pull.

It sits in my safe all the time, because it's just no fun to shoot!
