My PT1911 has been running great (600 rds). The problem I am having is that my front sight is off to the right making me shoot left. When I went to drift it I can not for the life of me get the bolt out of the front sight. I have bent 2 allen wrenches trying to loosen it. I am thinking it is red lock tighted and may need some heat. Can I use a heat gun to heat up another wrench while in the bolt head and get it loose that way? Any input is appreciated.

Jeff

If you have already bent two wrenches I would think it's time for it to go back to the factory or at least a gunsmith. If it's anything like my Kimber the factory has to move the sights.

Are you using cheap Allen wrenches from Harbor Freight? It can make a difference. If not, then the factory or smith is next.

I bent the one included with the gun and one cheapy harbor freight. I just moved and don't have my good ones with me.

I don't want to adjust the rear sight cause then both sights will be to the right side of the slide.

I just wanted to get a feel if anyone else has had this issue. I will either go get a good t handle wrench or just wait for X-mas when I am back at my other house. Thanks

Jeff

Put some penetrating oil on it, let it soak for a day or so and try again with a good wrench. You can also tap the wrench lightly and rapidly with a hammer while applying a removal force. The staccato impact will often release stuck hardware. Do both in combination for maximum effect.

I checked the front sight on mine and it appears straight, however I would imagine that bugger is in there tighter than snot. Like bikejunky I have put about 450 rounds through it and I have had 0 problems.
