I just bought one NEW for $450, I'm sure I could have gotten it for less but I didn't want to deal with buying it online and finding an FFL.

First off, I turned 21 a little while ago and have been shooting rifles/shotguns for about 10 years. Handguns are somewhat new to me

I picked up a used Glock 22C for $400. I put about 100 rounds through the gun and didn't like the grip angle nor the polymer feel. I returned it within the 30day period

I was looking at the 24/7 Pro 9mm but saw this purrrty PT92 sitting in the bottom of the case :D After handling the gun I felt very comfortable with it. I wish I could have shot the gun but most dealers don't have ranges. I'll be hitting up the range in the morning :p

What does the AFS Combat entail? I know it has the 5'' barrel and the 10rd mag. I'd like to pick up a 17rd mag for it though :what:

Thanks!
Adam

I forgot to ask my main question :(

How and how often should I clean the gun and lube it??

With all the parts I don't know what to clean and what to lube :D

Maintennence

As far as cleaning and lubing -

Always clean the gun after firing, of course.
But it is also good to clean it BEFORE firing as well.

This not only removes any dust or grime which may have accumulated, but provides you an opportunity to inspect the gun prior to visiting the range.

Then clean it whenever you think about it. If you are wondering if you should clean it again, you probably should. I'm coming from a military mindset though. I am assuming most people will clean it every one or two months when it isn't being used regularly.

The da/sa trigger system either cocks the hammer before releasing it (DA) or if it is already cocked then it just releases it (SA).

The SA mode will have a lighter trigger pull than DA mode, and your gun will be in Single Action mode after the first shot.

For lube, I have a few different oils I'm using. I have a little bottle of RemOil, a bottle of Hoppe's oil, and a bottle of Hoppe's Elite oil. They all seem to work just fine, I have a tendency to make all my guns 'wet', I don't think it causes them any harm and they are all reliable.

Also what ammo should I use with this gun?

I prefer WWB (Winchester White Box). It is your standard plinking round, 115 grains FMJ, and retails for about $20 for 100 rounds. Remington UMC is also very good, roughly the same price, and I find the two to be almost indistinguishable when shooting.

As for personal defense and such, I've heard good things about Hydrashocks but I've never used them (or any "personal defense" ammo for that matter).

I like 147 HST for my carry load. Speer Gold Dots are great too, and so are Winchester Ranger-T and Remington Golden Saber.

Go with a major brands current duty offering and then practice.

I know this thread is a little old, but I fell in luv with the Taurus PT92 AFS Combat and just had to have one, even though it is well ahead of my hi-cap 9mm buying schedule ;)
