I own and have owned only one Taurus. It is a model 96. This is a 22 long rifle, six shot, six inch barreled, blued revolver. From about 10 feet away it looks almost indistinguishable from a S&W K-22. The trigger is not as refined as a S&W, there is even a little hitch in the single action pull. It has not failed to go bang when the trigger is pulled, but so far the accuracy does not seem to be up to what you could expect from a S&W K-22. I have a friend who has a 6 1/2 inch barreled model 44 and he loves it. I have fired his a few times and seems to be fine.

The experience of myself and a gunsmith with 20+ years experience who has repaired quite a few Taurus revolvers. The springs are, in many cases, not the best.

Interesting. The one major failure (which I've had happen 3 time so far) in my Model 66 has been the firing pin spring getting mashed into unusability. Gotto go with the factory part, 'cause Wolff don't have them. :(. There's a reason Taurus' manual says not to dry fire. :fire:

Any suitable, and more durable substitute for the firing pin spring?

Bought a Tracker in 41mag 4 inch and the gun has been flawless with all reloads and factory ammo, also very accurate and has shot ragged hole groups at 50ft. I also own 2 Taurus semiautos, a PT99 that has given me zero problems very accurate at 25yds holding under 2 inches with 5 shots and a Millinium Pro ( newer design) that has fed everything and will shoot a 2 1/2inch group at 50ft. Some of the older taurus guns did have issues but Taurus seems to be making an effort to be a top of the line contender. I have never heard of any gun manufacturer that hasnt had problems from time to time.

Yeah, we'd never want any foreigners buying our stuff and creating American jobs, so lets not buy theirs. Please stop exporting Boeings, IBM's, Toyotas (yes they build them here and export them overseas) etc. We don't want your business because we're not willing to buy your products.

I have no problem buying a Taurus, Beretta, Sig, H&K, FN or any other foreign made gun. Those countries buy or have bought S&W, Colt, Ruger, Winchester, Remington, etc.

Taurus revolvers are okay. Their autoloaders, on the other hand, leave something to be desired.

I find this true only of Taurus' original designs. The Millenium was a disaster. Mill Pros? Who knows, I hear they're much better. 24/7? Jury's still out. The PT92/99 series guns have always enjoyed excellent reputations. Maybe due to the fact that the base design was Beretta. Lots of minor changes over the years have led to a gun that, while retaining the general lines of the Beretta 92 series, is significantly different.

Another thumbs-up for Taurus. I've had an 85 and a PT99, back in the '90s, and had no problems with them. Currently I have a PT92 and just bought a 445; I've had no problems with either. My main gripe with Taurus is their porting fetish.

Yeah, Southpaw, I know what you mean. When I saw the one I bought, I was actually looking for a 3in .357. The 445 caught my eye, and i stewed over it for a couple of days. The store had two, but sold the other (a SS) earlier. I was back in the store today, looking for a holster, and the clerk said he couldn't find any more 445s.

I hope you find one soon. That thing is sweet!
