I'm writing a series of books, and I want to get my facts straight concerning the Tavor X95. Can it shoot hollow point rounds? Basically, some of my characters are using this gun model, and I need the bullets to dismember people. What's the best bullet type for that? Again, I write novels, Game of Thrones in the future type ****, and I want it to be accurate.

Bullets don't generally 'dismember' people, unless you're talking about .50 caliber BMG, which wouldn't chamber in a Tavor. (That's humor-even a BMG won't 'dismember' someone...)

Most bullets, rifle or pistol, have rather limited ability to wound; many people shot survive, so reality would require a more modest expectation of what a shoulder-fired arm can inflict.

For your story to work, the X95 would have to be firing some pretty exotic explosive ammunition if you wanted targets to be dismembered. And it would take a lot of shots to do it!
You are better off inventing a fictitious shotgun for your story and specifying explosive slugs for that shotgun.

Or "bolo" type shells. Two balls connected by a wire. Only work in smoothbore weapons (such as shotguns), may cause the type of wounds your contemplating.

Thank you for the feedback everyone, it's been helpful!

The first book is called When Everything Breaks,
followed by When Heaven Is Hell and When Gods Make War (sci-fi fantasy action, dark). Look out for their release in the near future!
