Tax refund and guns - what are you buying?

Refund? REFUND? REFUND? Dream on.

But heck, I didn't let that stop the fun. I sold some "vintage" pipe tobacco that funded a new bolt action. I have on hold for me (I'll pick it up tomorrow) a Remington SPS Tactical in .223. All of my bolt actions are in .243, .270, 30-06, and .308, and I have wanted a .223 as a sort of SHTF bolt action to go side-by-side with my AR.

So, even though the bloodsucking tax man will get his fill, I had my fun nonetheless.

My local shop is supposed to be getting one in tomorrow and the shop manager said that he would hold it for me once it comes in!

We will get a little corporate profit-sharing.

If your spouse were willing to let you buy about $250 worth of ammo,
1) would you chose ammo,
2) or spend about an extra $50 more for another gun?

I'm 14, I don't pay taxes so, I don't get a refund, I doubt this is tax related, but Dad is picking up an Advantage arms .22lr kit for the Glock 22.
And if I make all A's and B's I might get another boltgun.

Tax Refund? What's that? I haven't had a refund since 1996. I always write a check on April 13th. If I ever get money back, then I know I'm doing something wrong financially.

A new washing machine...:(
Just put that in two weekends ago. Nice to have clean clothes without having to re-balance the load every cycle :)

But, today I treated myself to a well used sporterized Arisaka Type 99 7.7mm. Nice older sporter with a decent after market stock and a Weaver one piece scope base. Decent blueing. We'll see how it shoots? $99 won't kill the TAX budget :)

Doubt I'm going to get anything, since I just got a new pistol. Maybe I'll be able to afford a harmonica. :D

Getting a belt-fed semi-auto 50 BMG. Money through the year goes into checking or savings which are off limits for expensive guns, so I'm always waiting for tax season. Each year funds either one expensive gun or several less expensive ones. Also this year I purchased an FN 5.7, a DE XIX component system, 800 rds of 44 mag, 400 rds of 50AE, and a Franchi I-12. During the year no purchases over $3,000, but tax time it's up to half the return.

Unless a vintage S&W triple lock is included free with the computer I'm about to buy, I don't suppose I'll be making any purchases anytime soon! :D

My tax return's going into savings. If I didn't have to do that... I'd be buying myself a Tikka T3 TAC and pay for a few rifle training courses.

Ordered a new CZ-452 Varmint in .22lr today from Buds. Also ordered a Weaver V-16 scope and Millet rings. If you want a new CZ-452, better get it soon. They are being phased out.

Kept my money during the year

I opt to keep my money in my pocket rather than lending it to the government interest free.

So I already bought my guns with the money. A Mini 14 and earlier this year I got me an XDM .40 4.5" and I got me a Marlin Papoose and I got me a SPR 18 in 7.62x39. Though those all cost me more than a little more than I would have gotten back.

I like to owe as much as I can without incurring a penalty for not having enough withheld. That way I pay as little as possible to that bastard of an uncle who likes to spend all my money on interest payments.

Well, my tax refund was healthy, to say the least. I opted to upgrade some parts on the Remington 700. MidwayUSA was kind enough to ship them overnight for free (or maybe it was just because they are that close to where I live, Kansas to Nebraska) but I got them QUICK!

So the Remington went from this:

To THIS:

What changed you ask? AICS 1.5 Chassis, spare 10 round magazine, Talley 20 MOA Picatinny base, Burris Xtreme 30mm Rings and a Leupold Mark 4 M1 LR/T 6.5-20x50 Mil Dot Scope and a Wheeler FAT wrench.

Took about 30 minutes last night to install this, most of which was cutting a worthless 3/16 Allen wrench up (one that I have dozens of spares of) to use to torque the action screws to the correct torque. Just needs sighted in and then she is good to go!

I'm debating on spray painting the stock. I really like OD over Dark Earth, but I like my camo paint jobs better. When it warms up here (couple of months) I'll hit it up with some Krylon.

And that barrel is DEFINITELY free floated now :neener:

This is my 1st time NOT getting a refund....so maybe I'll treat myself to a box of 22lr ammo after I write the check.

I'll be doing some work on the new house- gutters, fill dirt, possibly levelling one corner for "good measure".

Then i plan on getting a Howa M1500 .308 heavy barrel varmint.

This year, I expect about 8k from uncle Sam. We got the 1500 advance from Jackson Hewitt, but I'm compltely debt free, other than house and car. Being a single income supporter of four, I get a considerable sum. 1st Tax refund purchase was my Hi-Point 995 carbine, and some ammo. Depending on what else I get back (read, what the wife lets me spend) I'm getting at least one handgun in .45acp. I've also got my eye on a .22 magnum revolver. I'll probably buy some optics and other accessories, and a boat load of ammo. Of my return, I'm hoping to be allowed to spend about $1k.

I imagine once we pay off the doctor and the midwife for the birth and care of Thing #2, there won't be a lot left for gunz. I may be able to earmark a little for ammo, an OWB holster, maybe some grips...

We are getting a chunk, so

big purchase will be the 12 new windows on the 2nd floor and attic (windows are original to the 1914 house) All together house will have total of 22 windows to replace between this year and next. :0

Firearm related purchases are:
*Nodak Khyber pass receiver to finish a build
*Russian triangle folder/trunnion for same build
*Bulgarian milled UF kit for another build
