Taylor Knock Out

Baseballs ain't bullets and apples ain't oranges
And handguns ain't elephant guns and felons ain't elephants.

What little relevance Taylor's observations about knocking elephants out with ancient large bore rifles might have to the world of modern firearms is certainly not something that has any bearing on the effect of handgun rounds on people.

Who made up the formula anyway?

Futility?

Hey, I'm willing to listen!

You can start by explaining what similar properties a typical handgun target has to an elephant skull and how the amount of time an elephant stays knocked out after being shot in the head relates to handgun stopping power.

Then, please explain what physical quantity is represented by a single unit of TKO as calculated by the formula listed earlier in this thread.

Then, please explain why every ammunition manufacturer makes expanding bullet ammunition when the TKO formula clearly shows that bullet design is not a factor in ammunition effectiveness.

A ballistics guy in a lab once told me " under carefully controlled scientific conditions bullets are going to do whatever the hell they want to do"

Too many variables for this one. No magic formula exists.

Baseballs ain't bullets and apples ain't oranges

But baseballs and bullets, and even apples and oranges, can be projectiles .

The point that I was trying to make is that the so-called "TKO" has no mathematical or scientific validity at all. It doesn't even refer to units, just multiplies two numbers together without any connection. So IMO the Taylor Knockout is basically an unscientific junk formula suitable for entertainment purposes only.

I guess it would be flawed because you can't load a 500 gr .45 bullet in a handgun

Ohhh... that might explain my 3 foot drop at 25 yards...
