tumbling

I thought I would throw my 2 cents worth in. I've been tumbling for years. I just purchased a new lyman 2500 pro to replace my aging frankford arsenal tumbler. It has a much better action and holds alot more cases than the smaller tumblers. I use walnut and corn cob both depending on how I want the brass to look.

I've found over the years if you let the brass tumble in walnut with some nu finish and frankford case polish for 6-10 hours it comes out brand new shiney. If you want it clean and usable let it go for 2-4 hrs. I've also found you can buy giant bags of walnut litter from the big retail pet stores cheaper than the "tumbling media" from gun stores. They use it for bird litter and lizzard bedding.
The media is the same size and consistancy. Also fwiw I put the media in then the polish and stuff wait 5-10 minutes for it to get all mixed in. Then add the brass until I see the action slow. Also a little tip put in a cut up dryer sheet, it catches some of the dust and fine particulate matter that comes off the brass.

Good luck....
