Sen. Ted Cruz tells conservative activists that GOP Senators yelled at him over gun bill.

Cruz explained to the conservative activists, "Look there are a lot of people who don't like to be held accountable, but here was their argument. 'Listen, before you did this, the politics of this was great. The Dems were the bad guys the Republicans were the good guys. Now we all look like a bunch of squishes.' Well there is an alternative. You could just not be a bunch of squishes."

Time for a GOP revolution!

Cruz, Rand Paul, Rubio are good conservatives and the new blood that the GOP needs right now. I respect McCain, but he needs to retire and write his memoirs. When Americans have lost their liberties, they will have lost everything. The 'great experiment' that is America, is founded on individual liberty, States rights and a limited Federal government. Protect the 2nd Amendment (and all the rest)!

I agree with all of this except "I respect McCain."

Cruz is pretty good so far, Rand Paul was good but more and more lately he is making me wonder. . .Rubio is a flash in the pan.

As an American, entitlement to opinion is your birthright. If, however, we may say that some people have earned that right, John McCain has earned his. I DISAGREE with a fair number of his opinions and dislike some of decisions, but I'm fully willing to respect him as a man of courage and principle despite our difference of opinion or belief. Your mileage may vary, obviously.

The John McCain who earned that respect was a different man than the one that is currently in the Senate. I respect the man he was, not the man he has become. But as you say, YMMV.

Cruz and Paul I respect I voted for Paul for senator Mc Cain and now .Rubio are RINO 's and both should be gone .Rubio showing his colors in wanting to let all thers illegals remain. Remove the food stamps medical care and anchor babies and most will leave. There here for the free stuff no to be citizens.

Yep, McCain is a war hero: No doubt about that. But war hero status only buys a person so much. Lost all respect i ever had for McCain after his involvement in the sleazy Keating Five scandal. Keating and four other senators interfered with the federal investigation of a corrupt bank owner named Charles H. Keating, Jr.

Then there was the Lieberman-McCain "gunshow loophole" bill. This was draconian gun control at its worst: Thankfully it failed. McCain is still hung up on the "gunshow loophole" red herring.

IMO: Rubio, Lee and Rand Paul are the heroes here.

Rubio is fast squandering his political capital with the conservative right, at least on immigration. Whether that will undermine his usefulness to the RKBA cause remains to be seen. Cruz is the one, right now, who seems to have the cajones to say what needs to be said, not just on gun control, but on a lot of issues. Rand is a bit of a wild card. Lee is surprising many (except maybe those from his home state who voted for him). Hopefully, they will all continue to shake up the old guard in whatever ways it takes to bring new life to the party of Lincoln.

It's not just Senator McCane; it's a large proportion of the GOP. Other than a few of the new guys, there's not a nickel's difference between a Democrat and a Republican except that they are loyal to different Party bosses and platforms. No more than a handful of them think for themselves.

This simply tells me that Senator Cruz is doing the job we sent him to do: uphold the Constitution. Squirm RINOs, Squirm!

As an Arizonan I can honestly say that the only time I have ever voted for McCain was in the presidential election--and that was because I was afraid the alternative would be worse. :uhoh:

I am very much looking forward to McCain's retirement.

As another Arizonan, not only am I looking forward to McCain's retirement, I'll be sure to help him get there if he decides to run for another term. As his constituent, I've been way less than impressed with his "template e-mail" responses I receive when I ask him for answers to very direct questions. I realize he gets lots and lots of e-mail , but I've had 1-on-1 correspondence with other legislators....it can be done. I'm a vet and I respect his service to our country....but he isn't cutting it in the Senate any more.

I wish McCain would retire also. But.....I did vote for him, not in the primary, but in the general election. If I had it to do over again, I'd do the same. And I still feel we'd be far better off.

Cruz has done well and is the type of person that stands in solid ground.

I've lost respect for Rubio... He's turning into another rino. The verdict is still out on Paul.

And as someone else said, these days, there is no difference between republican and Democrat. They are all crooks.

Ted is my guy and I voted for him. Every time he pisses off some GOP rino, I send him an attaboy email....Rubio is a rino. He wants to give amnesty to all his cuban folks in FL......chris3

Ted or Rand for president next time?
Not unless Cruz makes his birth certificate disappear. ;)

Ted, Rand, and others have stood firm on the Second Amendment all along. I'm nota single-issue voter, but they've all earned my careful consideration should I ever have the chance to become their constituent.

Ted seems to be a stand-up guy, who acts in our interests.

What he or anyone else thinks about immigration or any other issue is completely off-topic for THR.

Politics = closed.
