Bogie, your heart's in the right place...
And Gawd bless ya for it.
But Zumbo and Nugent are both liabilities (yes, I said Nugent's a liability, he scares the bejeezus out of anti-gunners and is really only useful to those already on this side of the fence), and if there's to be any fight against the anti-gunners, I'd rather not have them as my spokespersons. Keep 'em gainfully occupied, yes, but only by having Zumbo apologizing to Nugent on a regular basis, and Nugent continually "upgrading" (***?) Zumbo while sequestered at his Texas ranch, shooting varmints with pink AR-15s and remaining incommunicado for a good long while. (Incommunicado meaning both Zumbo and Nugent) Then we can put our collective energies behind something and somebody useful to the cause, while minimizing our liabilities and letting at least two of the jokers cool their heels.
And by liability I mean the wonderful cut-and-paste job of Zumbo's infamous blog now seen on the Brady Website, using Zumbo's words as some sort of gospel truth that firearms unsuitable for sporting purposes have no need to exist in American hands. Those are mighty big buzzwords in legislative circles, even if the Second Amendment isn't about hunting. Our fellow member Wooderson needs to remember that, too, the whole "nose of the camel under the tent" thing.
I'm with BigG and Zundfolge - I trust Zumbo about as far as I can pick him up and throw him, regardless of how fast he received a "revelation" after umpteen bazillion years of Fudd mindset. He's changed his tune because he got caught, period. Others are perfectly entitled to disagree with me, that's what makes America great. Zumbo doesn't need my help, anyways. I see it's a love-fest of sorts already, we have big-name folks tripping over each other like Keystone Kops trying to get Zumbo into free tactical carbine courses, and it wouldn't surprise me if he got a call with invitations from Thunder Ranch, GunSite, and so forth - "Take an avowed gun bigot out shooting EBRs", good PR for the business, that. I don't wish him ill will, but he really isn't ready for prime time again, especially if we want him to wear 2A colors. Thanks for the apology, Mr. Zumbo, now go somewhere, lie low, learn something, and use that accumulated editorial skill of yours to teach Ted Nugent proper English spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Don't call us, we'll call you when we feel we might need you. BTW, both of you stay away from any word processor with Internet connectivity, ok?
Personally, I feel DPMS is quite in the right to drop Nugent, and this "turd chewin' bubba" will email them to applaud that decision.
