Just looked at a Ted Williams (Sears) auto shotgun model 300.
From searching I understand it was made by Winchester for Sears.
I am thinking of buying it for $250.
What else can anyone tell me about the gun?? It is very clean with only a few minor marks. Guy says someone else is interested so should I jump on it or not.

If the gun is a Sears/Ted Williams Model 300, with a Sears part/model number of 273.521xxxx, it is a Winchester 1400.

Not sure about used shotgun pricing in your area, but that certainly should be a solid, serviceable gun.

Wanted to add that it has an adjustable choke on the end of it. I do not know if that is a good or bad thing. I have first choice but need to let him know sometime soon. (tomorrow)
He says its like 35 - 40 years old. I was surprised at how nice it looked.

Thanks Foghornl. I am still learning about shotguns.
That is the Number on the gun 273.521xxx
so now at least I know for sure it was made by winchester.

I've got a hunting buddy who has owned one for 30+ years or so. It too has the adjustable choke. His has been extremely reliable. If it looks lightly used and well cared for I'd say buy it. $250 isn't a bad price for a proven semi auto. My friend also loves the adjustable choke as well. I believe on those models they were made by Lyman.:)

The model 300 is a copy of the Winchester 1400 semi auto an if it's in good condition . Wood , bluing etc. in 12 ga . IMO 250.00 is a good price for a gun of it's type . The Winchester 1400 was known to be a soft kick semi auto an as some say ahead of it's time . I bought a 1400 new in 1992 an sill use it today. The only draw back is it will only shoot 2 3/4 shells . It's a good shooter . I can't see where you'd go wrong a 300
for that money . You could always resell it an get you investment back.

Picked it up tonite for $175
I would say great shape for an older gun. After a good cleaning it looks even better. I would say nicer then my Mossberg 500 I bought about 5 years ago. The more we talked the lower the price got. I figured I could not go wrong for that amount of money for a 12gauge auto. Im still in rehab with the shoulder so it may not get shot for quite some time. Maybe resale or trade is in the future.

The Lyman Choke on the gun you have makes it very versatile. No gun takes up space in my safe unless it has a variable choke.

here is the best pic I could get for now

That gun has a soft recoil.

I'll offer you your money back for it. I bought one of those guns in the 1960s and it is still like new.

Good enough. Looks just like my buddys, with the exception of the bolt release on the bottom. His is probably older. To release the bolt on his, you depress the magazine follower. It looks very nice, I'm sure that you can turn it for a profit if you decide not to keep it. :)

I just bought a Ted Wiliams model 300 for $135.00. It looks and shoots great. I am very happy with it. I was told it was made by winchester and was the same as model 1400.
