I found a ted williams model 100? 30-30 lever action. What are opinions of this rifle and does anyone know roughly what it's worth. Wood is good but the receiver has what I would call salt and pepper rust on the receiver.
I purchased one earlier this year as i wanted a model 94 win but didn't want to pay the high $ for a Winchester labeled 94. I paid 225 for mine and it's in decent shape. You can still find post 64 model 94s for $300 range. Good gun but the rear sights are kind of cheap. Action is smooth as butter and trigger not bad. Gun will last a long time if taken care of. If you can get it for a good price go for it. The value on the TW models isn't as much as the Win guns, but they are the same gun.
Got a TW 30-30 this year from a friend, I paid too much (300) because he is a buddy. ....but then he tossed in 100 30-30 rounds he had laying around and it didn't sting too much. It looks good and shoots good but not as tight as my Marlins. I have no idea what I'm gong to do with it since I don't hunt and don't reload ... but I do love a lever. I have a .357 carbine I enjoy more but I think it's because I really have not given the 30-30 a fair shake yet.
Hi,
Also have a TW 100 from Sears and yes it also has some "salt and pepper" speckling of rust on the receiver, especially around the loading gate. But so do some M94's that I have seen. Mine I believe dates to the mid '80s. Action is smooth and accuracy is good. Has screws on the side for a Williams or Lyman receiver sight. Wood is better than some M94's I have looked at. Very happy with mine.

the Ted williams stuff is deff going up; I saw some TW ephimora on a antiques road show, and all of it was pretty high. It will be worth keeping, lets put it that way.
