I just bought myself a little birthday present. :D

I liked the feel of this pistol of all the .22 pistols I played with.

It's fairly inexepensive, so I'm wondering if I'll need to do a little polishing or tuning to get her running well. If so, please tell me what to do.

Thanks.

You don't need to do anything with the Buckmark, just shoot it. The guns capable of excelent accuracy limited only by the shooters ability. I've put 10 rounds in the x-ring of a NRA slow fire pistol target at 25 yds with my field model with red dot sight off a bench rest, I'm not that good shooting normal unsupported bullseye style. Try different types of ammo to see which one your pistol likes the best. Mine don't like federals of any type. They just don't shoot as accurately in them as Winchester, Remington or Wolf.

I bought one in December and have put about 3500 rounds through it without a single FTE or FTF. No malfunctions of any kind. Accurate as heck. Mine doesn't like Federal either.

Money well spent and no upgrades necessary.

I've had mine for 6 years, still have never disassembled it for cleaning. I have only sprayed it with break cleaner and used a bore snake.

Cool - thanks guys.

BTW - I have not had good luck with Federal .22 ammo in general. It does not feed well into my 10/22. I stick with CCI - usually mini mags.

Are these little guns OK to dry fire?

Blue Loctite

Use blue loctite on the two screws that hold on the rear sight base. Use only enough torque on the sight base screws to hold the sight base in place.

The plastic sight sight base is not very strong, the first two broke every 50,000 rounds, until I wised up.

Recoil spring should be replaced every 100,000 rounds.
Ejector, mainspring, disconnector, firing pin, firing pin spring and sear spring at 200,000 rounds

Clean sparingly, they run quite well dirty.

~205,000 rounds and counting.

All I shoot is Federal Champion, jack of all trades. Not the most accurate in any .22 I own, but very good in all of them.

Browning Buckmark

Congrat's on your purchase of the Browning Buckmark, as these are
great .22 caliber firearms. Be advised, that not all Buckmarks have
plastic sight bases. I've had mine for 'bout 8 months now, and it has
a metal sight base. Its the Buckmark Plus SE with Tru-Glo marble
fiber optic front sight, and rosewood laminate grips. Its a Browning
Medallion Dealer exclusive, available thru those types of dealers
only~! Enjoy~:D

Buckmark

I have two Buckmarks and I throughly enjoy them. It is not uncommon for me to fire a bulk box (525) rounds through one when I'm at the range. I haven't had any problems with them. I did put a HiViz front sight on one to improve sight separation. I get great groupings at 15 & 25 yards.
Sometimes I'll take them apart, other times, I'll just use a bore snake. The screws are my biggest gripe. I'll take the allen wrench along and tighten them
every 150 rounds.

Mine has trouble cycling with standard velocity ammo but is fine with high velocity. It will also rarely light strike but from what I hear this is kinda common with .22 ammo in general.

The one I bought is the bull-barreled SE with regular sights. I wanted the fiber optic sight, but they didn't have one in stock. I can get the Hi-Viz sight for $26.

Just lube it, shoot it, and enjoy it. They are the "hammer" of the 22 auto world (along with the Rugers). I hope it is as good for you as mine has been for me.

GOOD CHOICE!!

I purchased my FLD Plus with the rosewood grips about a month and a half ago. I could install a carpet with this gun! It's a tack driver. The big plus is my wife is really loving it. Her accuracy is better than mine, and now she is building confidence. Besides being my "FunGun", it is a workhorse and a great weapon for introducing newbies to the sport. My kids love it too!! And, it prepares them for a 1911 grip to boot.

Two things I did to my Buckmark:
1.) Put in fiber optic front sights.
2.) Get a bright nail polish and carefully painted up my rear sights.

I just don't like black front/rear sights.

I shoot a Standard model, and love it to death. It is THE accurate gun.

I plan on putting on some fiber-optic sights, and possibly a longer barrel. It's FUN!

Mine has been reliable in most ways but those two sight base screws are a pain. I did notice that when shooting at 25 yds, I get a flier on the first round. A little investigation showed the tip of the first round is badly notched from it's trip into the chamber. It strikes the lip of the chamber and decreases accuracy. The bullet is slighly off kilter not just deformed on the tip. I don't have a fix for this as yet. Any ideas?

The BuckMark Camper is the only model I know of that comes with the plastic sight base. I have since replaced the plasitic sight base on my Camper and the gun has been a champ on whatever I try to feed it.

Good advice about the blue loctite on the screws holding the sight base on

Word of advice for when you do clean it - disassemble inside a clear, clean plastic bag. At the end of the recoil guide rod there is a tiny little c clip that holds on the recoil spring. It is very easy for it to leap off into places unknown. You don't absolutely have to have the c clip (I've gone thousands of rounds without it just fine) but it does make re-assembly easier and it's better to have it.
