Tell me about the Ruger gp100

I talked a local guy down to 450. He got it used but the original owner said he barely shot it and this guy only shot it once but has had it for 2 years says it looks like new.

$450 sounds like a good deal to me. most on gunbroker are going for upwards of $500, plus shipping and transfer.

as a walking dead fan, maybe you should save up for the 6" python :)

I talked him down to 420 and a box of 50 Remington hollow points. He got it in a trade and never even shot it so he didn't negotiate to hard. Seems to be in very good condition although I don't know much about revolvers.

With a little patience you could probably get more than that. My wife has one with w 4" barrel, and is a pretty darned good shot with it. We were popping off rounds at her family farm in Ga, and she did a fine job of shooting down a 6" pine that was threatening our drain valve.
It'll make a fine shelter for the fish now. :)

That's a nice gun. I just sold a 4" on GB for the prices listed. 6" are very nice.

Mine had an oversized bore and shot like a smooth bore. Built like a tank, but mine was a lemon. Ruger like everyone else has quality issues and lets a POS slide by once in a while.

And I got to keep my all steel Cz. Now we just have to see what happens when the wife sees the $420 withdrawl from the bank

I hope the guy that traded it didn't do so cuz it sucked. Cuz the guy I bought it from never even shot it so he wouldn't know if it's messed up.

Well now I need a holster like Rick on walking dead has. Any recommendations? How about speed loaders and a pouch and snap caps?

$420 is a steal for that handgun! Plus your 9mm cleaning kit will fit right in for your GP, so that's good too.
Since you're reloading you'll find it convenient that the Lee die set for 38spl also can be used for .357 Mag with minor adjustments.

I love my 4" GP100. Now I just need a carabine in .357 (like a Winchester lever action or a similar gun from a different manufacturer) and I'll be set.

I had a few GP 100's and they got sold or traded. Still have my 686 though. The bore axis on the Ruger is higher than the Smith. The action needs work out of the box. Nothing major, mostly just springs. The Smiths frequently can use a little help too. Anyway, the high bore of the GP was a deal breaker for me.

You stole that GP100 fair and square. the only way you'd loose money on that deal is if you lost the gun.
well it turns out I went to high school with the guy. He got it on a trade, never really wanted it and never shot it. his family is loaded. He was living in one of his parents houses and money is not really an issue for the guy, he was just ready to get it out of his safe, so it worked out for me
