Tell me, what was the best movie shoot out of all time?

I guess that at age 13 I was more interested in Ali McGraw than in the shootouts in "The Getaway".

I had a chance to meet her a couple of years ago in Santa Fe, and almost thought that I was 13 again. (I almost drooled, and I couldn't put two words together. I must have really been smitten as a youngster.)

what did you guys think of the commentary on bullet wounds in _three kings_?

This is a little odd, but I find that Cohen brothers' films have extremely well-directed shootouts. This is probably a reflection of the amazing attention to detail throughout their movies (whether they are good or not). For instance, check out the sequence at the end of Raising Arizona, where Nicholas Cage faces the bounty hunter from hell, who is armed with dual sawed-off shotguns and grenades. Notice how, when shot, the laminated front glass of the car's windshield sort of "melts" open, while the rear window glass shatters. I'm also partial to the scene in Fargo, when kidnapper Steve Buscemi faces the father of the women he's kidnapped on top of the Minneapolis parking garage. I love the part when the father, after Buscemi shoots him once in the stomach, drops to the ground and produces an L-frame Smith from his parka.

As for non-Cohen films, I love the scene in Reservoir Dogs, when Buscemi empties his 5903 (?) Smith while being chased by the police--even though the gun goes into slide-lock in one shot and keeps firing in the next.

Saw,"Heat", for the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heat+infinite....There will never........ever.........ever......be a gun battle that tops that bank hold-up ;)

I fell in love with the ar-15/m16 series of weapons all over again !

Heat is pretty stinking good.... i think a lot of that has to do with how loud and realistic the sound of the guns firing is.. atleast compared to other movies.

Way of the Gun is also pretty good

honorable mentions:
Open Range - one of the best western shoot outs ever
Tombstone - shootout by the river
Bad Boys 2 has some pretty good shoot outs as well...... and its funny...
