Tell me what you know about FR 8's.

Only real "weakness" is that, like and M44, they are a light, handy rifle that fires a full power rifle cartridge...and thus kick like a MULE.

I have a nice La Corona one...really great little rifle.

They are designed for

the Spanish 7.62x51 ammo - which is lower pressure than standard 7.62x51 NATO. I had one at one time and handloaded for mine.

The rear sights are neat but the notch mode (for close in shooting) was pretty much useless to me - too fuzzy, too close to your eyes. The aperture settings are very good but they put the point of impact very high at 100 yards. So, they really aren't very good for general use.

Other than that, it was a cool little carbine.

Will they be fine with standard .308?
I reload for my FAL and 10FP using .308 brass, I don't push it very hard but its probably slightly hotter than Spanish 7.62x51.

The older spanish rifles should use weaker ammo. I think the FR8 can handle anything on the market. It's a large-ring receiver design.

I've shot a bunch of "normally loaded" .308 in mine. I don't have a chronograph, so I usually load in the middle of the powder weight range.

As someone noted, it kicks like a mule. I put a slip-on pad on mine.

Also, I raised the front post enough so I can use the lowest peep at 100 yards, instead of using the notch. I like the sight picture better that way. The notch is useless with the front post that high, so I don't use it.

Nice light, short, handy rifle.
