The older spanish rifles should use weaker ammo. I think the FR8 can handle anything on the market. It's a large-ring receiver design.
I've shot a bunch of "normally loaded" .308 in mine. I don't have a chronograph, so I usually load in the middle of the powder weight range.
As someone noted, it kicks like a mule. I put a slip-on pad on mine.
Also, I raised the front post enough so I can use the lowest peep at 100 yards, instead of using the notch. I like the sight picture better that way. The notch is useless with the front post that high, so I don't use it.
Nice light, short, handy rifle.
