Anyone use this stuff? I used to love this stuff, until I pulled 2 1911's out of storage, these gun were cleaned and put away 9 months ago FWIW. The Tetra oil on the slide and frame has turned sticky, and the grease turned hard and froze both of the slides shut. I am so angry!!!! :fire: I fired off a nastygram to Tetra, I wonder what they will say.

If you use this stuff on your firearms, you had better check them now.

I have also found that Tetra Gun Lube gets very sticky after long term air exposure. No doubt it is still inhibiting corrosion, but it is also attracting dust.

well, I just went and checked a pistol I used Tetra on that I had put away a year ago. we live in a high dust environment (off a dirt road surrounded by farmers fields). no sticking problems here.

Good news: The products did their job, there wasn't a bit of rust.

Bad news: It took me 2 1/2 hours to clean up the bleeping mess

This is the email I sent:
I am not a happy customer! Nine months ago I cleaned two of my .45 1911A1's with all Tetra products. I just now got them out of storage, and what do I see? The grease turned in to a solid, freezing my slide shut on both pistols. The other lube turned into a nice sticky film. What do you have to say to this?

This was their responce:
Hello Jason,

I am not happy to hear of a customer that is Not Happy! I must admit that in the 7 years that I have worked for FTI, I have never heard of anything like what you are describing. The only thing I can think of is that:

1) Too much grease was applied...Tetra Gun Grease is a complete synthetic semi-solid lubricant based on a special technology...only a small amount is needed to do the job.
2) When the grease was applied, it should be buffed into the surface, so that the polymer particles embed in the metal pores and hence don't attract fouling etc...
3) Same applies to the liquid Lubricant...only a small amount is needed, and if possible should be buffed into the metal pores close to dry for maximum performance.

For more tech/application info check the site and click on the Tech link.

I hope this helps, and thank you for your support.

Now I will admit, I do over lube a gun that is going into storage, but I go easy on the grease.

Maybe the Tetra products I own, was old stock when I bought it.
