A friend of mine that used to do competition shooting years ago sold me one of his revolvers and holster rig. While I can use the revolver, I have no need for the holster.

I tried looking up the values of these rigs on line, and they're all over the place, and this is why I'm trying to find some answers here from some of the knowledgeable leather guys here.

The rig is made by Tex Shoemaker, and it was used with a modified Smith & Wesson Model 10, but he told me it might also have been used with his Colt Python. It has a basket weave type pattern, has a swivel holster with 3 locking positions, quick release buckle, and a 3 speed loader pouch.

So what is the real value of somehting like this.

If I had to make a guess, 30-60 bucks or best offer. I would keep it with the gun to have for the range. It may be more trouble to try to sell it.

It appears to have no retention devices, no right minded person would want to wear that as a duty rig.

Nice, but perhaps limited interest. As mentioned, maybe give Ebay a try.

Looks to be a competition rig for a PPC revolver, not a duty rig. Excellent quality. Probably dates from the 80’s.

Also looks to be a generic holster made for any revolver with a 5.5" - 6" barrel from a S&W K - N frame or Colt Trooper/Python. Also bear in mind that the belt size factors into the value. I can find nice old gun belts in waist sizes 28" or 46" for great prices all day long, but just try finding something in 34" - 40."

As I mentioned before, my friend used to do some competition shooting back in the day, This is the gun that came with the holster...

... and the belt is marked 36". So it will be going on eBay. I understand that revolver rigs might not be everyone's cup-o-tea, but there might be additional collector interest due to similar models used in "The Walking Dead" by one of the main characters (Rick Grimes). Maybe that would generate interest ;)

If I were still able to go boonie walking for any distance it would appeal to me. I used to pack a sixgun around in a Hollywood western style gun rig while doing so and found it very comfortable. Mine did have a retention devise and it would be very easy to add one to yours. 36" would be an ideal size to hang where I would want it to be.
