I've got kind of a crazy gift idea for my brother in law, and I was hoping to get some advice on how to get it from the knowledgeable folks her, hopefully without spending a lot of cash.

My brother in law is a fan of the old west, and he recently purchased a nice little stainless Ruger Bearcat (bird's head grip and 3" barrel) to add to his collection of single action revolvers.

Also, one of his favorite movies, (and mine for that matter) is "The Outlaw Josey Wales"

There's a memorable scene in that movie where Clint Eastwood pulls a small revolver from a shoulder rig and shoots a lowlife in the body and head, before saying that awesome line "Buzzards gotta eat, same as a worm."

Anyway, I'm going to check and see if he has a holster for it yet, and if he doesn't, (or it's not a shoulder rig) I was going to try and get him something like that, (hopefully in the $50 range) or maybe I might try to make it from a leather belt holster and some straps.

Open to ideas.

Above your price limit, but El Paso Saddlery makes replicas of holsters from the West, including several period correct shoulder holsters:

Take a look at the Tombstone, the 1879 Texas, and the 1895 Hardin.

El Paso is a semi-custom shop.
They size the holster to the gun, so a Bearcat holster will be smaller than one for a Colt Single Action Army.

Thanks guys.

Wow, the cheapest I can find for that holster is $185, well, it was a good idea anyway.
