I live in Houston and would like to know if I can carry in a Bank, I thought I read on another board that even if they have a no carry policy, there is no state law prohibiting it.

Whats the deal?

Banks are like any other business. They have to post the 30.06 sign, and if they don't you can carry (unless of course you get oral notification of their no carry policy. Then you'd have to leave, and if you don't, you are trespassing).

I carry in my banks every week...both personal and business...neither have a legal or no carry policy sign on the door. I live up in the DFW area.

If you have a valid Texas CHL, then you know the rules about the legal signs...if I see a legal sign, I either obey it or find a new place to do business.

they must have the properly worded and formatted 30.06 sign just like any other business. if it doesn't start off "pursuant to texas penal code 30.06..." blah, blah, blah...in both english and spanish...feel free to walk right past it. any other wording or format is meaningless.

The bank I go to has a faded pistol with a circle and bar going through it, but no 30.06 notice or really anything else, just the pistol symbol.

We are thinking about switching banks to wells fargo....any info on their policy with concealed carry?

To the OP. Did you in fact take the Texas CHL course? You're worrying me to be honest since the question you are asking is about 4 hours of the course.

You should consider taking a refresher somewhere.

Not trying to be smart or anything, no offense intended.

I can carry with my florida license, but I choose not to at this time as I would like to get my texas.

Unless it has a properly posted 30-06 sign, you are good to go. I was elated when my bank was bought by Frost Bank. The signs immediately came down. I rarely go there, but when I do, I carry. Frankly, I can't think of many places that are more likely candidates for carry than Banks.

OK that makes sense. Hope you didn't take offense at what I said. The Texas course would really be a good idea.

That's one of the scary parts about reciprocity. You are assumed to know and understand the laws of another state and that's not always the case.

I'm surprised more people don't get in trouble over this confusion.

Don't you love them? Years ago I opened a CD there and they had some list of free gifts, can't remember them all.
I chose the nice padded rifle case :)

No its cool, there are a lot of stupid people out there and I plan on getting my Texas license. I currently have Florida, New Hampshire and Penn permits, so I have studied the laws and know a lot about the use of force and the laws pertaining to carry.

I have just read mixed responses on other forums about this issue and I wanted to get a final answer.

What do you think about Texas ever getting open carry?
