I'm from Vinita, OK and have my OK CCW. I'm in San Antonio with my family for a week's vacation. I know my permit is valid here. And I know Texas has some kind of official "30/06 sign" for restricted areas that I'm required to follow. I was under the impression that it was quite large. Last night we went walking around the River Walk. We started to go in one Mexican restaurant. There were double signs in English and Spanish. We started to go in a Pizza place, some exact signs. They were only the size of an 8x 10 sheet. But they were very legal sounding and warned of "10 years in jail." I don't _think_ they were the official 30/06 sign since they started with the words, "No unlicensed weapons...."

So I'm thinking it is OK in those spots since a CCW holder is "licensed." But then I did a google search to try to find a .jpg of what the official signs actually looked like. Didn't find anything. So can some Texas people help me out? What does the sign look like that I need to watch for? And any other tips that might be a good idea to know in the SA area.

Thanks,

Gregg

Here's a pdf with the exact wording.

My guess is that the sign you are seeing is the sign that talks about the "UNlicensed" possession of a handgun. They are all over (especially at restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores) and often confuse people. That sign, however, is about exactly that, Unlicensed individuals. Hope that helps.

It would be nice if all the businesses just put up the 30.05 signs to avoid confusion and let the CCW folks be free. None of the "No weapons" signs. Silly and stupid really.
