AK-47 should do the trick. One hog, ten hogs, a whole army of hogs.

Muzzle blast is a big part of the reason I don't like short barreled centerfire rifles
Agreed, no reason for an 18" barrel .308. I vote for the .44 mag. over the .357 mag. My hog rig is a Sako Finnlight 6.5x55. Here's three hogs taken last weekend in Texas with it.

The 6.5x55 passed completely through both 200+ pounders on the right, using factory ammo. The 6.5x55 hits like a .308 but without the blast and recoil.
Hope you didn't pay to hunt thoseAgreed, no reason for an 18" barrel .308. I vote for the .44 mag. over the .357 mag. My hog rig is a Sako Finnlight 6.5x55. Here's three hogs taken last weekend in Texas with it.

Torian, what kind of mount on your M1A? I am thinking of finally scoping mine after 10 years and looking at a Bassett mount.
Want and need. My 6.5x55 works great on hogs and is my favorite rifle. The 30-30 I use on hogs was my son's first deer rifle that he wanted to sell when he got his 30-06 but I don't like to sell firearms as a rule. So I told him he couldn't and commandeered it.
If someone has a deer rifle that is all they need for hogs IMO. I don't like to admit it but I'd probably do just fine with my AR shooting the 64 grain PP's it prefers. I could get by with all of my non Rimfire hunting needs with only one rifle and have a number of them that will fill the bill.
What is the fun in that? I don't need AR's in 6.5 Creedmoor and .338 Federal, a 6.5 SAUM, a Rigby Highland Stalker in .275 Rigby, two Henry Long Rangers rebarreled to .257 Roberts and 7mm-08, a .404 Jefferey, a Savage 99 .250-3000, a 6mm-06, 1:7 twist 22-250 and a .300 H&H. But I'm always working on a way to get them all.
I can find lots of 22" 7600's but no 18's.
Did come across some 16" 308 pumps though.

I will share from personal experience that a Sierra Game King in 165 grains, which is an HP, shot from a Remington 700 over any 308 powder giving you a 2600 fps-ish velocity will hit those hogs like the Hammer of God.
