Didn't see this posted here yet, although I am tired as hell and have to be up in 5 hours or so.

For those Texas residents, or anyone for that matter, read below. Sign Petition. Get back the rights you may have lost.

Yes this is a copy paste from opencarry.org but it needs to spread like crazy.

----

Representative Riddle (R – Houston) will soon introduce historic legislation to restore the right to open carry handguns in Texas. But that does not mean the fight is over – it’s just beginning. That’s why we need to drive up the signature count on the petition for Texas at http://www.petitiononline.com/texasoc/petition.html

And all Americans can help just like in 1836 when volunteers came from many states to help Texas fight and ultimately defeat an invading Mexican Army.

So if you known anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Texas, now is the time to contact them and urge them to sign the open carry petition for Texas at http://www.petitiononline.com/texasoc/petition.html

The petition is now at over 54,000 signatures but we need to drive that signature count well North of 55,000 in the coming days to send a clear signal to Austin that open carry needs to be passed this year.

And if you blog in Texas, or can spare a few moments to add this message and/or the petition link to Texas blogs, please do so immediately. And remind folks to use valid email addresses so that they can receive vital updates on legislative matters from the Texas Open Carry Working Group which is going to be a permanent and effective pro-gun force in Texas to be reckoned with this year and in the future!

Please act on this message today.

Sincerely,

Mike Stollenwerk/John Pierce

Not So Far

Ah, Rev? As of this afternoon I can find no evidence that Riddle has authored/co-authored/sponsored/co-sponsored anything relating to guns.

Do you know the bill number?

Cy

Couldn't tell you, I just signed this months ago then got an email from them asking to help spread the word. Of course that was at 230 this morning and I was half asleep, Ill dig around a bit to see if i can find it.

All I know is that Debbie Riddle was part of the "Castle Law" which should of never of had to of been written but with all these sue crazy people out there...
Basically the Texas "Castle Law" makes is so if you shoot and/or kill someone who breaks into your house they or their family cannot sue you.

Also this is not gettin enough attention: Texas, state Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, is preparing a concealed carry on campus bill. He refers to the proposed measure as a “safety protection bill” for students and faculty.

That needs support too.

And I see now where it was already discussed, I just somehow completely missed it last night.

Castle law is for imaginary actors...

I think you are petition THE STATE OF TEXAS, which is a federal State. It is no different than Guam, Puerto Rico etc. where there is no 2nd Amendment, and what people call a "firearm" privelege is at the whim of legislators. See my post "Yawn... the guns laws are for Washington DC only". About Castle, you're right, it should not have to be written, but it is to suck people back into the Washington DC mentality to give up the 2nd. The Castle legislation, in Texas, is for "Actors". Actors are just that, actors that represent a character and are not living, breathing men and women. This is done to retain control over your 2nd Amendment while giving the people deception they've retained a right when in fact they've traded it out for a privelege that will be taken away with the stroke of a pen. :banghead:

That petition was for the last legislative session. No open carry bill made it to the floor. I'm all for open carry, but a year-plus-old online petition isn't going to make the difference.

Yeah, I started to sign before I read the thread and found out I was in the first 3000 signers and now they were up to over 66,000. I bet it keeps growing despite being out of date, LOL.

Yeah this is an old one. I'm sure it will come up again the next legislative session and we'll start again.

Closing this one.
