I'm still not seeing anyone putting in a 1900 DWN American Eagle Luger, or an early S&W .44 Triple-Lock I ask for on Aug 30th.

Come on you guys!
It's been over a month now, and I'm still waiting to get in on this Free Stuff deal. :D

rc

rcmodel, they are probably buried under layers and layers of dust covered reloading stuff :D

Give us a chance to clear off the stuff on the top first. ;)

I am continuing to clean up the house for the move next month and I keep finding stuff I forgot I had ... some stuff, I am finding duplicates and triplicates ...

I am getting ready to put the "reloading kit" on the thread WHEN I find the RCBS RS-5 press ... yeah, I forgot where I put it.

I strongly suspect an RCBS press with BDS on it will be worth Far More then a Lee press with rcmodel on it!

Check weight set

I got the check weight set and a bunch of other goodies from BDS.

Thanks again BDS for everything!

Dudedog, I just realized I was supposed to give you the M2 class check weight set in grams from the 9/28/14 drawing when we did the "face-to-face" meet up for the powder PIF and other items. (May be my wife is right ... perhaps my mind went a long time ago :D). :banghead:

The check weight set you got is in grains. I will bring the M2 class check weight set when we pick up our traded firearms in 10 days (BTW, thanks for the trade). As to other PIF items, it is helping me clear out the reloading items for the move next month.

While looking for once-fired .223 brass for Dudedog, I found some .308 168/175 gr HPBT that were sold by Powder Valley as factory seconds. I didn't count the boxes of bullets but may split the lot in two boxes and fill the rest of small USPS flat rate box with .308 once-fired brass.

I will count the bullets and post them tonight.

O.K. BDS.
I can't stand it any more.

Put me in for the NIB Lee Safety Scales BoltLover put up.

(I recluse myself from being a back-up judge for that one.)

If I Get Lucky Punk?
I want one to play around with it, just long enough to find out what all the Love and / or Hate for the Lee Scale is all about!

I can test it against my old RCBS 5-10, and my old PACT Digital.
And maybe write a post on the results, if I can get a Round Tuit??

When I get done playing with it, I will put it back in the BDS PIF pot to simmer some more!

And I 'Might' even sign it?

Or not? :D

rcmodel, gladly but YOU REALLY SHOULD SIGN THE SCALE when you post it back for PIF. I am sure many would agree with me - All those in favor, raise your ram levers! :D

When I did a 3-way Ohaus 10-10, RCBS 5-0-5 and Lee Safety Scale comparison, all three detected a single piece of 1/4"x1/4" 20 lb copy paper. Using the slider poise for 1/10th grain was not as fast or easy as 5-0-5's notched or 10-10's micrometer drum poise but definitely accurate and consistent.

RC, I can tell you this about those scales, I have owned one Lee safety scale, one Dillon Eliminator, and two digitals. I currently only own the Lee.

The digitals eventually crapped out, someone else wanted the Dillon more than I did(to the tune of 25 bucks over retail), and the Lee just plain works great.

When I had them all at once I compared them. The Dillon and Lee were exactly the same, over and over.

Well then?
What is it approximately 50% of the owners whine about?

Hard to read the directions and comprehend it?
Hard to set?
Hard to find a level surface in the house to set them on and zero them?

Just seems to me, I have read an awful lot of posts by unhappy campers who bought them?

I just would like to see what it is that makes the Lee scale Love / Hate thing keep on going?

rc

This is my take on the Lee scale:

Good:

- It's made by Lee Precision
- Made in the USA
- Red in color
- Sensitive and readable to 1/20th grain
- Accurate and repeatable to 1/10th grain Ohaus 10-10
- Magnetic dampening
- Lowest cost beam scale for reloading
- Poise lock

Bad:

- It's made by Lee Precision
- Red in color
- Slider poise
- 100 gr capacity

Personally, if you are using the Lee scale for repeatable trickling of powder charges, it works well once you lock the poise for repeated readings. I often weigh many different powder charges and find the drum micrometer poise of Ohaus 10-10 much easier to manipulate with my thumb/finger tips.

There are some cons. It is not as easy to read as the Dillon. When you get used to it, it doesn't bother you. It only goes to 100gr. That really sucks, but it's not that bad. If I need to weigh bullets a cheap digital is better anyhow.

I still use mine all the time and see no reason to switch as it's very accurate.

It seems to me there are a few different kinds of people. People who work with Lee products with patience and find that they are usually very workable tools that will produce good quality ammunition. Then there are people lacking that patience. They get upset, break things in anger, then label it all junk. Then there are those people that simply feel superior because they paid more for their equipment. Even though they usually have little to no experience with the equipment bring discussed they will still chime in with "it's junk save a couple extra bucks up and buy xxxxxx instead." Though usually those "couple extra bucks" are two times or more the total cost.
