went to a different shop today, and was looking at only sigs. found a used but unfired hi-cap p226 in 9mm... really thought long and hard on that one, but ultimately wound up going w/ the p229 in 40 s&w. expecting to pick it up tomorrow around 11:00, if all goes well (and it should, as i just cleared a nics check on thursday for a ruger srh in 480).

anyway, thanks to those who responded on my 220 help request... ultimately i was steered towards the 229, and i think i'll be happier w/ this gun, than i would've w/ the beat-on 220. thanks again!

Congrat's on your purchase of the SIGARMS .40
caliber P229!;) Like all other SIG's, its a great
weapon; although I prefer the .45 caliber P220.
The P229 should give you a lifetime of trouble
free service. Enjoy~

And many thanks for your purchase of a SIG!

I just purchased the new P229RDAK. Is the the 229 with night sights, light rail and 6.5lb double action only trigger that is smooth as silk. It is by far the nicest DAO trigger that I have ever felt. I am not able to carry it much yet as I haven't found any leather gear to accomidate the light rail. Spoke with FOBUS and they said that they are working on it and to check back. Well, with the warmer weather approaching it looks like it will be fanny pack carry till I find something.

i decided on the sig route for 2 reasons... on internet forums, the sig seems to be held in the highest regard... and i definitely like to see what the forums are saying about something. since most magazine writers have lost their integrity, and only write press releases for a product accompanied w/ a full page ad next to the 'article', i simply don't believe what the mags say. i want to hear what the folks who are using the products think.

the second reason i went sig, was when i went into the shop and started handling them. geeze, they felt so right. the question started evolving into 'how in the world am i going to stop at just 1?? talked to a couple guys behind the counter, and in an effort to mask my enthusiasm, i cooly asked to see a springfield xd... the guy just asked me if i was ready to fill out the paperwork or not, and by the way, the springfield is nice , but it is no sig. i was busted, and we all knew it. so, we just negotiated a deal that i could live with, and here i am.

can't wait to get some quality time w/ the sig. part of the negotiations netted me some free range time... think i'll be getting after that pretty quick.
