The 454 Casull WILL put'em down! (Hogs that is)

Thats right,,I killed my first hogs with my Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casull.
They came into the feeder at about 6:55,,,just the two of them.
The shot was about 25-30 yards. One was hit in the neck, and the other in the head. They were about 125lbs each. (Both males)

After I shot the first one, the second one just turned around and looked at him,,,BAM, he went down to. Neither one of them took one step!




Dam I like a good hog hunt with a big pistol! That was fun!

QUick question, it looks like you hunted at night. How do you handle a spotlight? Do you have someone holding one? Or do you set it up on your stand and then light up the feeder?

I ask, cause I'll be doing a night hunt over a feeder in E. North Carolina Tues and Wednsday and they said to bring a spot light and a rifle with a high capacity.

We only hunted until dark. The picture was taken at a buddy's house later on.

We are allowed to hunt hogs at night with a rim fire pistol and a hand held light, but I don't know of any body that has done it yet. (Crazy new law)

How was the

recoil?
I have a lever action in .454/.45LC. With the .45 it kicks like a .22, with the
.454 it kicks like a shotgun.

The 454 kicks almost like a shotgun.

Like I said,,,if your looking through the scope at a deer or hog your getting ready to shoot,,the recoil is not that bad.
But if your at the gun range shooting a target, it kicks like a mule. Makes my wrist hurt.............

Like he said, the .454, .500 S&W are by far NOT FUN by any means at the range. But in the field you barely notice it. Pretty much like any firearm with heavy recoil, you don't seem to notice that wallop when aimed at a live target. I had a .454 and still own a .500 S&W. Even with that super long 8.5" barrel that bugger will snap your wrist off if you aren't careful. But they do a SWEET job on whatever they come in contact with!

Supper,,,Ha-Ha-Ha,,,I could feed a small army with all the hog I have in the freezer.
I still have four hams in the freezer from the last three I killed with my Marlin 30-30.

You have good taste in pistol caliber and good taste in lever action rifles
as well. My Marlin .30-30 has been my brush rifle for years and you can't
find a better lever action for the money in my opinion. (unless it's the .35
caliber Marlin 336)

RoughNeck08,,,,The ammo was a Magtech 260Gr, SJSP.(1805 FPS)
Its was the lowest price ammo I could find at the gun shop I go to @ 30.00 dollars per box of 20.

Do you reload?...I run a 300 gr hornady XTP through mine, magtech brass, and about 31 grains of H110...6 inch groups at 100 yrds with open sights...it feels like your trying to catch a baseball bat when that 2lbs trigger breaks, and the overpressure makes you feel like you just got hit in the nose, but it just doesnt get any better than a 454...I have the bright stainless raging bull

No,,,I dont reload, I dont shoot the 454 that much. (I wish I did)

The one Im holding in the pic is Stainless,,,I just painted it black and added the scope.

Very very nice. Although I wish there were hogs around me that I could hunt I am sure the farmers think otherwise.
