ok, sorry about the back to back threads but the topics were different enough, and I have to ask...

What is the best single action trigger in an autoloader? Sorry, but please leave out the P210 and the P7 for this one. I know that they are some of the best, but they are out for this one.

Is there anything else that comes close to a 1911 trigger? I guess I'm really looking for alternatives to the 1911 right now, so if you think that the 1911 has the best one (which I'm sure many or most do) would you perhaps humor me and include your pick for first runner up?

Thanks everybody, your input is very valuable to me...

(oh yeah, it can be a DA/SA handgun, but I'm just asking about the single action pull specifically, for this conversation the double action pull can be horrible and the gun can still "win")

The Smith & Wesson PC 952 9mm is a single action target pistol with a very nice trigger.

The trigger that comes on the CZ IPSC Standard and their Champion scares some folks. It still pivots unlike the 1911 trigger so there WILL be a longer movement but my CZ IPSC broke at about 1.8 lbs and if there was any creep... well if there was some, there wasn't much. Out of the box, it was better than any sub $2,000 I've handled also just out of the box.

And if you give George Smith about $125, he can make a CZ75B SA that good as well.

1911 is the winner for single-action trigger pull under all circumstances that don't include the P210. The P7 trigger isn't in the same class as either the 1911 or the P210; it is short and light, but kind of spongy. There is a reason why almost everyone who cares about trigger pull in an autoloader has a 1911.

A BHP with a truly superior trigger job can have an extremely good SA pulls. Single-action CZ trigger pulls can be very good as well.

Walther P38/P1 has a good single action trigger that doesn't have the takeup of a SIG, for example.

Believe or not my Ruger P-97 has a fantastic SA pull. I don't know if this is typical or I just lucked-out. Much better than my P-95. On the other hand, its DA pull leaves a lot to be desired, mostly because of the way it stacks-up.

Cratz2 is right, my (formerly his) CZ75 IPSC ST beats any 1911 I have owned. 1.8 pounds from the factory is pretty amazing. Any 1911 I have had that was under 3 was not a stock gun. I think that particular CZ often gets overlooked because it is so uncommon most people have never tried one. If one focuses on more mainstream guns and more typical trigger pull weights, then I vote 1911. Triggers in the 3.5-4.5 lbs range out of the box are not rare in my experience.
