on my last outing, the front sight kinda flew off, and i was unable to recover teh screws for it....

Brownell's and Numrich's have replacement screws. Trying to get extra parts from Marlin these days isn't easy as they stopped production some time ago. Good Luck (wish I could find a drum mag for the Camp 9....)

"(wish I could find a drum mag for the Camp 9....)"

well i did see here LINK! that this guy modified some 9mm mags to work on his camp9... held 72 rounds in a mag...hehehe...

and here's the drums he used via gunbroker: drum link

welcome to THR thegreathoe, you have the Camp I will have once I get a new stock, I even have the same red dot. Has the drum mag worked for you? I have yet to talk to anyone that has had any luck with those things. If yours has been good, will you tell me who made it?

Thanks.

the drum mag worked after playing round with it a bit... the spring tension was way too strong to feed well.... and i dont remember who made it... i think i got it from midwayusa.com

Well, I got the new hammer strut bridge in. The 9MM nickel bridge fit the .45 just fine. I was getting very light primer strikes at first but some oil fixed that up real quick.

I'm camping again and loving it!!! :)

I think I'll get the Wolff 21# spring now...

I thought I'd contribute a picture or two for the club photo album. This is my Camp 45 along side its magazine sharing sister, Kimber Stainless II.

MaterDei, nice group you have there. I need to take a family photo as well. I like that stock.

phantomak, if a MkIII is a 10 for you, then a Camp would be an 7 or 8. I don't think either of them are that bad but apparently I'm all by myself on that one. The only hard part about cleaning a Camp is the reassembly, there is one guide (don't have my book handy for a part name) that like to fall out of place and the inherent problem where the feed ramp can actually fit under the chamber instead of in front of it. If it gets assembled with the ramp under the chamber/barrel it will not feed (not that I've done that almost every time). After about 3 times you remember to get it right. I can field strip mine and have it back together in less than 5 minutes easily. 2 screws, 2 pins and everything falls out pretty much. I've never stripped the lower assembly though.

another 'Camp Club' member

Glad this thread got re-posted, I missed it originally but now here's a new member for the 'Club'. I know several hoping to find one of these, either chambering or even the .22 mag model. Would not let either of mine go for love nor money, I have the 9mm and .45 both, have shot my .45 a good bit, real handy carbine. I found lead slugs are dirty in the micro-groove rifling.
regarding a trigger job, easy here - polishing is about all you can do. I've had mine down and it takes a bunch of pins to get it back together. add some good lube/grease to the sears and it's noticeable benefit.
there is a Yahoo.Group 'Practical Carbine' which has some affecionados of these also, good group.
anyone got a link to a muzzle brake for these? Choate used to make one but no longer. I have a Choate folder on my Camp 9.
every group of 'prepared individuals' should have one or both of these guns in the 'arsenal' if I may use the term here. or one of the other makes of the same caliber. this is due to the cartridge interchangeability and also magazine with the 1911 style and the S&W 915-5900 series pistols.
I'm going to PM the fella here in WNC also. luck to all. M45. :D

Mag interchangeability and caliber similarity are the two reasons I got the camp 45. Pretty soon all of my pistols will be 45acp 1911's and I'm getting together a nice group of magazines too. :) I like the idea of being able to take a boatload of ammo and mags, a 45 carbine and two pistols in a backpack god forbid I were to ever have to pack that bag. Maybe I'll find a briefcase that will fit everything into it so I can look super cool the next time I go to the range.

Oh, and the biggest benefit to me for having a pistol caliber carbine is the ease in finding somewhere to shoot. I don't ever get to shoot the AR :cuss:

Well my Camp 9 was delivered to my FFLs home the day after he left for a 2 week vacation. They say patience is a virtue but I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this rifle for the long weekend.

:(

last I shot my .45 much I was whacking a 8"X10" steel plate at 100 yards offhand with irons every shot after I got dialed in.
I've only got to run mine at more than 25 yards once. It took all of the ammo I had left (after a IPSC match) to get the red dot sighted in. I think I could have done well at 75 or 100 after that though. It was really easy to hit the 8"x8" shoot-n-c's at 50.

Mater, that thing is sweet.

My camp should be arriving soon, I already have the wolf spring but I am not sure about installing it. I found this website, what else do I need to do to remove the original spring and replace it with the new spring?

http://www.notpurfect.com/main/campgun9.htm

Is there any point in getting a blackjack buffer or is the wolf 21 spring enough?

I think that the reputation for lead not shooting well in micro grooved barrels comes from the oversized barrels in the 44 mag 1894 rifle. When these guns were released 44 mag factory ammo was loaded to higher pressures than now. The one way to reduce pressure is to make an oversized bore. Since factory loads have been reduced Marlin could tighten up the bore.

If you shoot a 94 with a Laser cast bullet that is .431 diameter they will soimetimes work. Each gun is different. Remember Marlin 22s are very accurate with micro groove barrels. There is a new thread today of a model 60 shooting a dime sized group at 50 yards. Try the lead it may work.

I tried lead in my hi-point and it dug into the feed ramp. Oh well, just shoot jacketed in this gun.

I finally got my Camp 45 to the range last week and wow, I love this thing. Not only is it a lot of fun to shoot, but I was very impressed with the general accuracy of this rifle. I am very glad that I did not pass this one up like I almost did. I plan on getting a red dot and a wolf spring (I already installed a blackjack buffer). Here is a target shot at 25 yds with out a rest, free hand sitting and standing, round count at around 50. I would highly recomend if you ever find one of these rifles, buy it!! The only thing I did not like was the sights, but that will change with a new red dot.
