What's the deal with the Round Butt? Admittedly, this may be a case of needing to analyze my shooting technique, but I shoot them better more easily. I typically shoot 1911's the best and they're the most comfortable. I've never shot as well with most revolvers...until recently.
I picked up an early Cobra with the full round butt frame. On the first range visit I flat-out drilled the target. With the other E/I-frame & D-frame weapons and the original service square-butt grips, I always felt the need to add a T-Grip or similar. Not so with the round butt. That little sucker rolled back in the mitt like it was on a bearing. No joke, how can a couple of small corners of metal make such a difference? This is more than the flat vs. arched mainspring thing on the 1911 (prefer the arched).
I picked up a set of the smooth rounded Agent grips for the Detective Special & it's next to try out. If I were a less than mirror finished E/I-frame in the collection, I'd be shivering in my gun rug should a deal on a set of Marshal grips come along!
