Yep. At least two fairly mature deer managed to survive the hunting season here in SW New Hampshire. They just walked through the front yard and across the street! It's exciting in a way, to finally see what I spent the fall chasing. Don't we all just love it when that happens? :)

No real point here, just passing word of the activity around.

Some deer do make it to the next year. They grow a little bigger, grow a couple more points all in anticipation for next fall.

The number of hunters has been decreasing and the number of dear harvested this year is down, so I suspect there are still quite a few running around out there.

Oh, you guys ....

We have deer here in town all year long, and sometimes even elk. :neener:

Kind of PO's a guy to come home from hunting hard all day and have deer feeding in your yard - where you can't shoot them because it is inside city limits. :banghead:

Quite frankly, we don't have as many deer around here as some people might think. I'm not certain of the number, but New Hampshire deer harvest is usually around 10,000 animals. Roughly. But we do have a few moose! Sometimes they venture into the front yard also. :)

I had a big bowl of deer chili and mexican cornbread for dinner.......speaking of deer.;)

we can't kill enough deer here..... you should come to ky for deer season, unlimited doe all season in zone one counties....

it's a matter of looking out the door on any given night to see 4-6 does mowing the lawn..... personally i think doe season should go year round, make it alot easier on my freezing body...

you should come to ky for deer season
I agree! I am getting scared to drive my car at night anymore. On second thought, I am scared to drive during the day TOO!

Last year IIRC, I was driving down 31E just south of Louisville when (what had to be 20+) deer ran across the road. This was around 10am. Some went behind the car... some went in front. NONE were hit fortunately. I have had several close calls and several of my relatives have damaged their vehicles in the last year or two.)

Our deer population here in KY is getting too large.

I bet ya those deer knew the season was over and they did that on purpose to tell you, "Better luck next time Bud!":D :D

Dozen deer walk through our yard everyday - sometimes, you could bash an elk in the head with a shovel from our deck. During the rut, we'll have 6-bys (western count) hosing the does in our front yard not ten feet from the deck .....

Yesterday, we had over 100 elk about 1/2 mile from the house, bedded down & ...... well, just wanted to break out the chainsaw. ;)

& no, I didn't get to harvest my elk this year in my choosen area ..... cows, too boot. (wah!)

Guess I'll just watch the critters (again) till next year .....

So very cool to have 'em in the yard though.

(kinda akin to a Chineese having a pet dog .... ) is that too un-PC? ;)
