I know and love my local law enforcement guys and gals. But to put down some "resistance", in the current establishment way of thinking, they'd send in "outsiders." Remember Elian Gonzales and the Sturmgewehr? And don't forget good ol' homeboy Ron Horiuchi, and his several friends. And Waco. And IRS-police. And Border Protectors at check-points a hundred miles from any international border. I could go on. "I'm from the TLC, and we're just here to help you."
