From NRA-ILA site update today -

Gun Ban Fight Moves To The States With the Clinton gun ban now atop history`s trash heap, anti-gunners are trying to force their agenda on the states, and their definition of "assault weapon" is getting broader and broader. Your hunting guns are now being targeted for extinction.

Nothing surprising here but - proof, if any were needed, that ''they'' are still hard at it! :(

The truth is, gun prohibitionists in this country have a zero tolerance for gun ownership.

Duh! The anti's have to move their efforts to the states, since they've got a snowball's chance of getting anything through Congress. The only battle on the national level they're going to fight is on the USSC justice nominations.

This is the one time I wish the federal government would step on states' rights and pass a bill that states can't pass more restrictive gun laws than the the feds.

I too agree that it would be nice, but then I start thinking about federal laws that are already real restrictive or stupid, and it makes me think that the federal laws should have less power, and the states are fine. While that would suck when living in NJ or cali, it does make life nice in virginia or indiana or any other red state.
